Kase makes a UV filter specifically for the Q343  that sits inside the lens so you can then not use any other filter until you need it and still have protection. Add a normal CPL/VND onto the Freewell hood and when you need and it is perfect.

I found your channel a couple of months ago and after watching several videos (several times 😊), I subscribed.  I find the videos extremely helpful especially because I have three camera systems, all of which you cover to some extent.  I'd love a video on which filter system (or just singular filters) you use with the Real lens hood from Freewell.  I haven't received the hood yet so I suppose I'll eventually be able to figure out the filters I want for myself.  Thank you for extremely detailed and wonderfully informative videos!

I bought both items (just to save on shipping) for my Q3 43.  The lens hood is PERFECT for this camera... I replaced the lens filter with my own UV filter and I can now toggle between MACRO and normal without the filter hitting the lens hood.  And I can now just flip down the cap without removing it and flip back up after taking photos; don't have to look for the cap in my pocket.  Like you said, I wish the thumb grip is hot.  Thank you!

Your collection on the shelves in the back is impressive.

Great reveal on the gizmos.  So much more reasonably priced!  After its first release, I was concerned about the Q343's filter fitment problems, but this "Real" lens hood seems to have solved them.   As always, your thorough, thoughtful, detailed reviews are a welcome display of excellent materials at a reasonable price.  Thanks!

This new lens shade/filter combination is the very best system on today’s photographic market especially for the Q3-43.
This product is exceptional in every detail. Highly recommended.

Perfect for the Q3 🤩

Thanks... very helpful.

Thanks for this video. Regarding the lens hood, PolarPro has a similar one but the FreeWell is much better because when using a polar filter you can rotate it without opening the front of the hood.

Nice review ...

Great presentation. I have a JJC lens hood which solves the filter problem nicely, but the Freewell allows use of a polarizer which is nice.  I may just go to B&H and get the lens hood.  Wie immer, vielen Dank fuer das Information.  I again inflict my HS German on you.   ;o)

OK, I bought it.  There is a discount code that can be found on the website for 10%.  Not on B&H, so I bought it direct.  Again, thanks for the tip.

Great accessories but I'll keep my Q2 until Leica hopefully releases a Q4 with a fully functioning electronic shutter. The electronic shutter in the Q3 series is only usable on static subjects. The Q2 has an electronic shutter that works fantastic up to 1/40000th of a second. I use it all the time

PolarPro makes one hood to use with a polarized fîlter too

That lens cap system is nice with the big red sides to rotate filters.

One small doubt about the lens hood with little depth/distance to the filter, I wonder how well does it work as a lens hood

Another valuable video. Thank you. As for the lens hood accessory, I love what it does for the camera, but there are two show stoppers for me. First it makes the Q3 43 longer. That might be fine for you and others, but I hate to see the camera get that much longer. Second, I can't help but think, "What were THEY thinking," selling it with that filter. Selling it with a CPL is a fine idea, but integrating it with a "mist" function? What percentage of photographers want that combination as their everyday CPL? I certainly don't. It might rarely go on my lens. I am curious, do you disagree on this point? Sorry if I sound negative. Love your videos including this one. Again, thank you.

Great review again mate. That lense hood looks great, would it work on a Q2?

You did not mention the maximum size the hood takes for larger filters. I have a large amount of 58mm filters I use on my Q2 via a 49mm step-up ring. At present I have a similar hood as your 43 and use my 58mm’s easily without trapping my fingers.

Does anyone know whether you can stack two filters on a lens with this hood?  For example, a UV filter and then a screw on ND over that.  Or it is designed for one filter only?

I do wish JJC made a eye cup and thumb grip in one attachment. If you put the thumb grip in the hot shoe then you can't have the eye cup. I really like the eyecup on the Q3 cameras. I find that very flat view finder a lot of light comes into my eye from left and right because it's almost a flat view finder. It's quite odd. I've never seen a flat view finder and I wish that the Q3 had a slight cup on the viewfinder so yeah there's a challenge for a manufacturer is to make a thumb grip and an eyecup also the eyecup protects the rubber around the view finder which can get scuffed as well. I have a very deep set eye in my face so it's difficult to actually use the viewfinder straight out of the box. I definitely needed the eyecup. I also think the eye cup protects the viewfinder from scratches and other things as well.
