This is always the most difficult part of the technique, but you can get it if you do not give up. Try hitting all of the strings at the same time with the flat of your fingers. You will need to experiment with how much pressure to use. It is a little different for each player and each bass. You can also try leaving your index finger (on your fretting hand) down across the strings and hit the strings with your middle, ring and pinky fingers. That sometimes helps. Let us know how it goes!

It is possible that your action is too high. I have found that a lot of players have difficulty in getting a good left hand clap, but you can experiment with action height. Just do not go too low, because that can sometime rob you of low end and power.

I like all lesson,great,but my language is spanish.

yeah I can't do the left hand clap either.  It just doesn't sound right.  I always seem to hear a note in there not a clap.

how do i do this :/ when i slap with the left hand, it slaps too hard and acts like a hammer on, and if i don't do it hard enough , it just mutes the open E without getting a slap sound

Could it be that I have my action too high?

What is the technique for muting the strings on the left hand ?, Do you just hold the strings loose or do you hold the strings on the fret bar ?

you have to make "fast", not really "hard"

I haven't tried it yet, but I was told that having kind of a high action helps with the percussive sound. Especially for guys that like to dig in a little bit. Is that true?
