The original reason for working on this Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero / Shogun was actually something completely different.
During the TÜV inspection, the vehicle failed because of severely corroded rear brake lines. Since the truck was already in pieces and spending more time in the garage than on the road, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to take care of a few other maintenance items as well.
In this video I replace all accessory belts on my Pajero. The old belts had seen better days and, while they weren't causing any major problems yet, it made sense to replace them now rather than wait for them to fail somewhere far away from home.
The job itself is fairly straightforward, but as always there are a few tricks, a few tight spaces, and a few moments where you question Mitsubishi's engineering decisions.
In this episode:
Removing the old accessory belts
Inspecting their condition
Installing new belts
Adjusting belt tension
Preventive maintenance while the vehicle is already apart
Sometimes the smartest repair is the one you do before it becomes a breakdown.
Vehicle:
Mitsubishi Pajero Gen 4 / Montero / Shogun 3.2 DI-D
