Imagine hearing this all the time on the radio as a young teenager! I grew up in a golden era of rock music.

“These Eyes” by The Guess Who’

Burton Cummings is the singer. He's so criminally underrated it's unreal. If you'd like to check out his voice in another song, listen to his solo work, "Stand Tall."

"Randy Bachman was inspired to write "No Sugar Tonight" after witnessing an incident in California1. He was walking down the street with a stack of records when he saw three intimidating-looking bikers approaching. Feeling threatened, he was about to cross the street when a woman got out of a car and confronted one of the bikers, scolding him for neglecting his responsibilities1. She then told him, "And one more thing, you ain't getting no sugar tonight," before driving away. The phrase stuck with Bachman and became the inspiration for the song."

FINALLY... getting around to one of CANADA'S Greatest Bands.... Burton has one of the best voices in rock history and he is fiercely Canadian.. They still get a lot of air play up here and deservedly so. So many great songs !!!!

Randy Bachman of "The Guess Who" was also in Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO).  I love both bands

The coolest part is that at the end, they sang the 2 songs together on top of each other.

It’s amazing the things you remember. I am 72 and singing with them like a rock star. I feel like one anyway. ♥️🌹♥️

According to Randy Bachman, he and a friend encountered a couple of rough dudes and was about to be initiated when suddenly the dudes girlfriend pulled up screaming at him about looking for a job. Then the famous quote came out she said to him no sugar tonight! True story 😎

Next up from The Guess Who:
No Time
Laughing
These Eyes
Undun
Clap for The Wolfman

Clap For The Wolfman is a great song from Guess Who

Another good one from The Guess Who.  My favorite from them.  As a kid of the 70s and 80s we knew what it meant. It wasn't cryptic for us potheads. We got it.  The Man didn't.

According to Randy Bachman, the inspiration for the song arose after an incident when he was visiting California. He was walking down the street with a stack of records under his arm, when he saw three "tough-looking biker guys" approaching. He felt threatened and was looking for a way to cross the street onto the other sidewalk when a little car pulled up to the men. A woman about 5 feet (150 cm) tall got out of the car, shouting at one of them, asking where he'd been all day, that he had left her alone with the kids, didn't take out the trash, and was down here watching the girls. The man was suddenly alone when his buddies walked away. Chastened, he got in the car as the woman told him before pulling away: "And one more thing, you ain't getting no sugar tonight". The words stuck in Bachman's memory.

More from this band that MUST be heard are, "American Woman”, "No Time, “Laughing” and "These Eyes”!!!!

The Guess Who doesn’t have a bad song.  They helped me through high school, through  my marriage, divorce, and have been part of my life ever since.  They are awesome!

👍 A BAG OF GOODIES AND A BOTTLE OF WINE!!! WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT ALL RIGHT TONITE😊 MANNNN, THOSE WERE THE DAYS ROBERT! 💯

Old joke - "Guess who did this song?"  (Hint:  It wasn't The Who.)  A biker pissed off his old lady and she said, "No sugar for you tonight".  Result - another iconic rock song.

This is when music was great music.

We got it because we were living it.

Sometimes Peg, you just gotta roll with it and enjoy the tune.
