Imagine how fast the 2026 London marathon could’ve been if they had Kelvin Kipton there pushing them, RIP

I think 2012 100m final is also worth mentioning

Mr Second Place (Yomif Kejelcha) did 1:59:41 as his debut!!

Great vid! Maybe do same on the womens side?

7:29 Keep also in mind that 46.72s would've broken the long standing world record of before that year that was with Kevin Young at 46.78s from the 1992 Olympic Games.

9:18 And marathon debut for Yomif Kejelcha.

I would love to see this for women. In terms of depth there are a lot of options to choose from like W100H.

Awesome video, great research to get all the IAAF scores. I expected 5 of these races going into the video, but great to quantify them like this

What a great video. No idea where your subs are at, you deserve much more. Definitely got one outta me

I`m norwegian, and as proud I am of Warholm, that London marathon will stand a test of time. It is impossible to run anything in 0 seconds, and to push it further, technology and training methods are at peak? I guess fractions can still be pushed, but I can not imagine that the margins Sawe shaved can be matched.

I love seeing very well edited, very well professional and talented people and YouTubers/entertainers, these videos are always well made.
Keep it up, sound and editing is peek my guy, obviously video also slams.

Great list!   Also like the race that the previous mile world record was ran

I'd add in the 1999 MI State Meet Region 2 Class 4A 400m open in which I ran a 50.4 for the school record, but whatever.

Just want to give a shoutout to the 2004 Olympics 5000m final - not for the times, but the legendary names on the podium:

Hicham El Guerrouj, arguably the best middle distance runner of all time and still a WR holder over 1500m, but he had failed to become Olympic Champion before. In his very last event, he managed to do the double over 1500m and 5000m.

Kenenisa Bekele, the 'new Haile Gebrselassie', just about to enter his prime. He won Olympic gold over 10000m in 2004 and would do the double 5000m/10000m four years later. Plus he would hold the WRs for both distances for over 15 years.

A young Eliud Kipchoge, who would later win two Olympic marathons, set the marathon WR, and be the first man to run a marathon in under 2 hours (though not officially recognised).

Bolt's WR and London Marathon are up there in History Books! amazing performance...

Those guys were practically pacers for each other. Incredible

Genuinely amazing video you deserve much more subs (just subbed btw)

It seems like you didn't consider relays for the video but I just want to say that the 2012 mens 4x100m relay is one of the best races of all time and my favourite ever. The 2nd-placed American team also broke the previous record. The best bend ever ran by Johan Blake to get level with Gay. The poor American anchor was blown past by prime Usain Bolt.
