Bob got me through a lot in this life

Copper Blue is a masterpiece and still sounds amazing
Beaster is a masterpiece and still sounds amazing

My friend and I came all the way from Melbourne, Australia to London for these gigs… more than 24 hours of travel each way and thousands of dollars invested. So hearing complaints about a trip from Long Island to New York does make you appreciate that “far away” can mean very different things depending on where you’re standing.

I still remember the first time I heard Sugar.  A high school classmate asked me if I had heard the new Sugar album, "Copper Blue".  I said, no who are they?  He asked if I liked Husker Du, which I said I did.  He put the cassette on the art class stereo and pressed play.  By the time the chorus I remember thinking, "Oh... I'm going to love this forever."  We're at the 32 year mark of forever.

Bob is a national treasure

Copper Blue was a gift. The soundtrack to my post divorce solo road/backpacking trip through Texas, NM, Ariz. and Utah. Got pulled over by a Navajo cop. Didn’t care I was speeding but wanted me to pull over to look at the map. As he walked back to his car I cranked The Act and he walks back to my window. Who is that? He says. I say that’s Uncle Bobs new band. He wrote down Sugar Copper Blue on the cover of his ticket book.

For me in 1989, the idea that Bob didn't make a penny from "Workbook" would have been inconceivable. That album was everywhere for us in New Jersey -- at Rutgers and at Princeton -- and it was the sound track for my early 20s. Shout-out to Bob for playing "Brasilia Crossed with Trenton" at Bimbo's in 1999 and for uttering the greatest quip from a troubadour at a microphone: "Is Madonna getting better, or am I just getting more gay?"

My partner and I were dating when Copper Blue and Beaster first came out. Bob's solo show on the Black Sheets tour was the first gig we ever went to together. Naturally we listened to those records non-stop. Not long after that we separated . . . then reunited 25 years later. There was no way we were gonna miss this tour . . . so we flew from Melbourne, Australia to Berlin to catch a show. Totally worth it. This band is simply incredible.

Everyone associatwd with this, thank you so much.  Copper Blue was a soundtrack for my first years out of college, married, a kid, struggling.

Just, thank you.

Great doc! I live in Warsaw, Poland, but happened to be in NYC on a business trip during those 3 sold-out Webster Hall shows. On a whim, I emailed Sugar’s management asking for a photo pass—expecting nothing. To my absolute surprise, they said yes! Experiencing and shooting that reunion live was completely surreal. Huge respect to the band and their team!

Mould is an UNBELIEVABLE song composer!

To this day the loudest show I’ve ever been to.

We really need a new Sugar album Bob!

My ears are still ringing from the last Sugar show in Chicago way back when.

Bob's sound is HIS sound, and will always be his. It's what we all want, to have others recognize and love whatever we have.

Absolutely crazy. Just randomly found thier albums out in the wild and now they reunite for tour! Universe works very mysteriously.

So much love for Sugar. Please bring the tour to Australia ❤.
Both my kids grew up listening to Sugar and my 29 year old flew from Sydney to Glasgow (couldn’t find a ticket anywhere else in the UK) to see them at Barrowlands. Says it was totally worth it.

Tilted is the best song ever made I will keep saying it

Sugar, like Nirvana, were like a Rosetta Stone for rock music to me, who had listened exclusively to hip-hop up til that point. I still feel that excitement hearing the opening chords of The Act We Act. Changed my life.

As a Minneapolis teen in the 80's, I have a special affection for my hometown heroes Husker Du. So anything Bob does is awesome. I love Sugar. This was a great video and I am so happy that the band got back together to play in 2026.
