What a wonderful woman his grandmother was. She loved his grandfather unconditionally and free from judgement. A love that lasted a lifetime in spite of Rays truth. He loved her just as much. Thank God he told John the truth and Ray knows he is again, still loved and unconditionally accepted. Isn't that what we all need---pure love and total acceptance. What a beautiful voice and song. I cried SO HARD!

Grandpa looks like he's been holding on to so much pain for such a long time. I'm so happy he can be his true self for however many years he has left. And great song by his grandson!

Jesus this one broke me! This boy loves his grandfather in an unbelievable way and his grandfather has lived deeply internally holding onto pain. Gosh this is truly a beautiful song and he has a amazing voice! He deserves this one!

im that grandfather, and have been married to a great woman for 30 years. and no matter what i think my wife is my rock. and the fact that he waited until his wife was no longer here says alot about this person. my wife loves me no matter what.

My dad came out to me in my 30s  so this hits home

The part when John says "Hey that's  not gonna change  a damn thing" gets me every time
Every family member  needs to have this attitude

My grandma was my mom ❤️..
Hits deep

What an incredible voice and an incredible song! This is  a testament to unconditional love with no boundaries  between a son and his grandpa.

I love the rasp in his voice and how soft he can make his voice at the same time

Just amazing. Ray and his wife are great people who took care of their grandson and Jon really shows his appreciation. What a great SON Jon is to Ray and what a great FATHER Ray is to Jon. Rest In Peace to his Grandmother, she is an angel.

Grandpa has been holding on to this pain for so long.  His wife was a great woman didn't judge him . Great song and Grandpa so proud of him.

there is nothing wrong with being gay/who you are. whats wrong is people saying/telling you who you have to be.
loved this audition. best of luck in this season <3

His grandmother loved his grandfather so much despite him never being able to be his true self. And he loved her so much he spent what? 50 years together? They are a true story of love and acceptance!! And now his grandson and best friend can be there to help him be his true self. It’s truly amazing!! I would hug his grandfather if I could 💜

This is a number one song! If he wins, this should be his finale song!

That's so sweet for him to sing for his grandfather. He is a very special young man.

Beautiful tribute to his grandpa

This is my favorite audition, ever. Their relationship. The style of music. His voice. This was really moving.

I hope his song "Tell me Ray" gets on the charts. Everyone needs to here this.

OMG, WHAT  BEAUTIFUL STORY ABOUT HIS GRANDFATHER RAY. NO MATTER WHAT HE STILL BY HIS SIDE. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS ❤️

What an honest grandpa about his personal struggle as a gay, but he raised a good man his grandson. Stand and be proud grandpa.
