Maple and Arianna watch A Bug's Life (1998) for the first
time — one of Pixar's most overlooked films deserves way more
credit than it gets and Hopper might be one of the most
underrated villains in animation history.

My favorite bit of headcanon is that Tuck and Roll speak a different language because isopods are technically crustaceans so they aren't fluent in "bug"

It's a shame they didn't watch the 'outtakes' during the credits.

Pixar making a grasshopper one of their most intense villains is amazing

2:06 "Everyone is very anxious in this ant community"
would you say they're very... antsy?

A couple interesting facts: this movie takes inspiration from the Aesopp’s fables the story of the Ant & the Grasshopper about a lazy grasshopper wasting the summer while the ants gather food for the winter.

And the Akira Kurozawa movie Seven Samurai about a shrine priestess who leaves her village to gather samurai to battle against the bandits pillaging them.

Fun fact: the mosquito at 15:30 is voiced by Roger Bumpass, the voice of Squidward!

It's so funny to see this as such an underdog story, in terms of popularity, because at the time it came out it was the 5th highest grossing animated film of all time. Then all the big Pixar franchises happened.
