Excellent conclusion to the rebuild. These Rovers are so awesome to work on. Normal tools and lots of grunt!! Enjoy the ride Mr. Foreman! Have a great day and many SPG (Smiles Per Gallon), Cory Anderson
Phew, glad we didn't have to wait too long for the next installment. Just done similar job on my daughter's VW New Beetle. Bit easier though, just a single ball joint on the bottom, and I swapped the entire lower wishbone as the rubber bushes were looking past their best. Made such a difference to the handling. No more strange knocking noises, and it flew through the MOT first time earlier this week. Not bad for an 18 year old car.
My brother told me a story about the torque spec in the manual for the F4U Corsair propeller nut. Since it was a lot of torque the manual suggests a 175lb mechanic hanging off a 4 foot bar would be fine (I may not have the numbers exactly right but the idea is there).
I am confused. Should the upper ball joint not enter from below as well? Will it not be pushed out again from the load of the car while driving? Reason why I ask it that it seems that all the load is now on the lower ball joint as the upper one can easily move upwards.
You’ve changed, in the old days you would have used a boot lace to hold that clamp on and now look at you getting all fancy with your fangdanngled specialised tools. Shame shame shame.
