It's natural to worry about your car and research online, on YouTube, and on ChatGPT, wondering, "Should I replace this part?" or "Should I service this area too?"

There's nothing inherently wrong with that.

However, especially with older cars, it's crucial not to decide which parts to replace based solely on research, but to first inspect the entire vehicle and prioritize "what to do now," "what to check next," "what should be done together," and "what shouldn't be touched right now."

This time, we inspected a Honda Beat with approximately 50,000 km on the odometer.

As we checked the timing belt, cooling system, and rubber parts—areas the owner was concerned about—we found that the replaced parts were in surprisingly good condition. However, we also discovered points that wouldn't be apparent without a physical inspection, such as corrosion around the camshaft, likely due to the car not being driven for a long time.

As this car's owner demonstrated, it's essential to determine future maintenance plans while actually inspecting the vehicle.

"Parts that should be replaced" and "maintenance that should be prioritized on this car right now" are not necessarily the same thing.

To ensure a long and happy relationship with your car, how should you consult with a mechanic, and what criteria should you use to decide on maintenance?

This video is intended to be helpful for those who have bought an older or used car, or those who want to keep driving their current car for a long time.
