Carrie is being remade for the 4th time in the form of a Prime original television series. In this video, I summarize the original novel while breaking down and analyzing the deeper meanings imbedded in Stephen King’s writing while also testifying that no film or adaptation has done the source material justice.

Thank you so much, I totally agree ! "Carrie" is one of my favorite book and it deserves to be shown as diturbing as it is. People need to understand that Carrie is not the monster, everyone around her is.

As much as I would love there to be a proper book adaptation of Carrie I highly doubt it’s going to ever happen.
I really enjoyed this video. It was very insightful and also gave me a new perspective on the book that I hadn’t thought about before.
And even though we might never get a proper book adaptation, at least we have the book itself and for me at least that’s good enough

The 2002 version was an accurate adaptation for the book. Honestly, I’m not gonna lie the 2013 version of Carrie used to be my my favorite mainly for the prom scene, but after watching it so many times I noticed some flaws with the film, but the 2002 version it was an accurate adaptation of the book
I’m so pissed off we didn’t get a TV series because the 2002 version was supposed to
Looking at the trailers for the 2026 version, I’m not gonna lie. We should’ve gotten the 2002 version instead of this.

It's interesting that you want Toni Collette to play Margaret, because Milly Shapiro was initially being eyed to play the new Carrie, and Milly played Toni's daughter in Hereditary.
Also, I don't think that the new Carrie is going to remain cheerful. I think they're compressing book Carrie's whole character arc (12 years of abuse at school) into one school year. I think that by the time prom rolls around, she's going to be a lot more like book Carrie. In the book, Carrie was also cheerful when she first began school and was given false hope that she would find friends.

If you mean a beat for beat adaptation of the book, I’d sadly say not really. We Americans lack passion and only do things with pride.

Probably my favorite scene in the book is when, during Carrie's rampage through the town, a whole bunch of telephone lines all get torn out of their poles and fall to the ground, landing on people and electrifying them - all except one woman, who, in act of survival, now has to CAREFULLY step her way through the street, avoiding the fallen wires and the dead bodies.
If I were to make my own adaption of "Carrie", not only would I include that scene, but I would have it happen to Sue Snell and her mother, where they're holding hands as they make their way past death-inducing wires and corpses. I would showcase Sue's relationship with her own mother a little more to act as a foil to Carrie and Margaret.
Also, yes, I'd make certain to cast a plus-sized actress as Carrie. I would also want her to to still be pretty, because, as already pointed out, Carrie White actually IS pretty - she's just not taking care of herself. So I'd want a fat-but-pretty actress, but most of the film she'd be wearing "acne makeup" and her hair would be a greasy mess, and her wardrobe would consist of ill-fitting overly modest gray dresses. Once Tommy asks her to the dance, Carrie would go buy herself some acne cream, soap, shampoo and conditioner, and by the time prom rolls around, she's clear-skinned with nice hair, wearing a pink dress (that's one detail that the films have always gotten right: a pink prom dress works much better than the red one described in the novel).

Actually, another thing I'd have for my own adaption of "Carrie" would be this recurring motif of the camera focusing on Carrie from behind. For example: the movie would open up in the high school gym (starting with the stage area, which any seasoned Carrie fan will instantly recognize as foreshadowing for the prom), with the camera panning backwards over the room, revealing the female students playing volleyball, until it lands just behind Carrie's unkempt head, and staying there until she gets hit on the head by the ball. Carrie wouldn't even react, not even when Miss Desjardin comes over to see if she's okay, or when the other students run past her, slinging insults her way. Carrie would remain still with her back to the camera the whole time...
...and then it would cut to Carrie (again, still with her back to the camera) naked in the shower, her acne-riddled butt in full view, while all of the other girls get "modesty shots" (meaning things like short walls are blocking the view of their own private areas; all of the slim pretty girls get their privacy while Carrie doesn't, showing how she has basically no safety).
Matter of fact, we don't see Carrie's face until she realizes she's bleeding. Once it registers, the camera finally cuts to a frontal view of her, and she SCREAMS in absolute terror - right in the audience's face. The whole idea for this is to create a kind of distance between Carrie and the audience, giving her an "other" quality so that the first few minutes establish her as a mysterious outsider.
From then on, Carrie is filmed like a regular character - but there's still the recurring shot of her from behind at various important moments: when she's walking home from school and uses her telekinesis to push over a little boy on his bike; when she's walking through the hallways at school; when she's researching her own abilities, when she's practicing her abilities, when she's about to announce to Margaret that she has a date to the prom, etc.
The one I like to imagine the most is, after the blood is spilled, Carrie runs out of the gym (using her power to shove as Miss Desjardin and various other students), and we get an overhead view of her running out onto the field, her shoes falling off in the process, until she collapses face-down on the ground and cries; the camera then begins spiraling downwards towards her, symbolizing her descent into madness...
...and then the camera suddenly stops and aims itself at the still-open doors of the gym way in the distance...
...and then Carrie's face arises from below, soaked red with pig's blood, with the music giving a sudden BLARING noise, her eyes flashing with realization, anger, madness and malice, while a crazed grin stretches across her face.
Cut back to inside the gym: the students/teachers who were pushed over by Carrie's initial run are picking themselves up, the remainder of them simply standing around in shock and confusion... and then one of them turns to a friend and says, "Carrie's back." "Yeah, I know," responds the other, except it's obvious by their tone of voice that they have no idea HOW they know.
All of the doors get slammed shut, and Carrie, looking in through the window, grins as she begins taking her revenge.

For "some" reason religion seems to hurt women more than men? This is what happens when we decide to never again use words like patriarchy and misogyny. We have erased these words so we don't have to talk about their reality. Religion is when men say women are inferior to them because God says so - that's why religion oppresses women and benefits men. How are you talking about misogyny like it's some kind of mystery?

The video game clips are pointless and ruin the video. No offense, just saying
