Lovely to be reminded of this great old stadium and the great nights there.

I was there with my dad week in  week out we would stand at the stating line good old day  😁

Well, this takes me back. I lived on Garratt Lane - Tooting end - and used to go regularly to watch The Dons in the 70s/early 80s (and also to Stock Car/Banger meets). I could hear the speedway from our house when the wind was in the right direction. Many happy memories.

What a great shame no more Wimbledon speedway and those grazy pit bend lonnies and the lose of simmo and mike Ferreira long live Wimbledon speedway.

Loved my speedway .....Ollie nygren ...Jim tebby ,,,,,gary Middleton ......reg luckhurst ....brilliant

This totally takes me back. My ex b.f and I used to go to Plough Lane (Thursdays; if I'm wrong give me a break - I was 20-something - I am now pushing 70) in the late 70s/early 80s. It was a brilliant night out and Wimbledon Stadium was a pretty chilled place to spend an evening. My only complaint is the rubbish bar - the wine and beer were bloody awful. 🤣

If you know your speedway...some great riding in this meeting....like the race with Chris Morton trying to pass Simmo and Simmo knows exactly where to ride without getting flustered to keep Chris at bay...

Another amazing film Barry, I just watched the whole meeting, totally forgot where I was I was so engrossed, was almost like being there back in 83,you could almost smell the castrolR,the hot dogs and cigarette smoke, just awesome!!

brilliant

Simmo and Niemi - great team riding! They used to do this on a regular basis at Plough Lane

Hi Barry.   Fantastic upload.   Went to this as was a big simmo fan.   Maybe if it’s possible could you put the teams up

Young Kelvin Tatum winning races for fun i always thought that kid might do well lol

Is that Roger Johns in the number 7

Is the stadium still there?
