That adaptor was a good purchase. Less expensive than the raw material, ground concentric and hardened.  It won't be the case with everything but what time saver.  Thanks for spending time with us.  Hope those background things work out for the better.

Gotta say mate, that head’s a lot more solid than it first looks—bit of a sleeper, that one!

Now, if you’re planning to keep running face mills on the new setup, there are a couple of machining basics that might be worth keeping in the back pocket. Nothing fancy—just good workshop sense.

First up, for safety’s sake, try to keep your cutting forces pushing down into the vise,  towards the bed. Keeps everything planted nice and firm, and helps avoid any nasty surprises.

If your cut’s nearly as wide as the cutter, give climb cutting a go. With the full diameter engaged, there’s bugger-all chance of it grabbing, and your inserts will thank you by lasting way longer.

Also, pick the end of the vise that lets you follow both of those tips and flings the chips away from your face, not onto your shirt.

Last thing—just to be kind to your gear—try feeding up and down rather than sideways. It takes a heap of torque load off the quill stop, rack, and pinch screws. Helps the head live a longer, less stressful life. A bit like us, really!

G'day Matty.  The right angle attachment is worth its weight in gold, & with all the various attachments, including the draw bars, you have a great variety of jobs, from drilling, threading, boring, for that fact its like a second lathe  ❤😂🎉.
