The lights changing colour for each province is a nice touch man 👌 nice little innovation that adds a lot.

As a Leinster fan, I can only speak for myself, but I’m perfectly happy with using the South African tour as an opportunity to develop players. There are few better places for young players to gain experience, and a number of them really stood out, which was brilliant to see and gives Leinster greater depth as some of the squad gets older.

Jamison Gibson-Park is 34 and, with Luke McGrath gone, Leinster now need to develop the next option at scrum-half. Fintan Gunne needs game time. He actually reminds me a little of a younger Dupont in his stature, energy and eagerness to get involved.

Casper also gained invaluable experience and is developing into a genuine running 10, which gives Leinster a very different attacking threat compared with Prendergast or even Carbery.

I also really liked the look of Josh Erikson. He looked like an excellent carrier and another player with plenty of potential.

The one decision I found confusing was leaving JJ Kenny off the tour. He was one of the breakout wingers last season, bringing real speed and power, so this seemed like exactly the kind of tour where he could have gained valuable minutes.

All in all, purely from a development point of view, I’d consider the tour a success.

Jack angiuer was outstanding in the scrum for munster

The scrum was a big positive for Munster. I have seen some overreactions with regards O'Shea's performance and I want to ask everyone to pump the brakes a bit and give him a chance to develop before Christening him the next Ireland outhalf.

If I were a Leinster fan I would be very happy with 3 points from the SA tour as well as seeing some young lads get some good minutes in.

The other Irish teams all have to play a stacked international Leinster twice each year, while the African teams play a second string Leinster only once, mostly that means that the Irish teams lose two games against Leinster and African teams win against Leinster.

Leinster players will be rusty against Clermont next weekend. That could be costly playing in France as Clermont play really well at home.

Good man, thank you

As a munster fan, im very encouraged by our style of play, it seemed better suited to the skill set of our team. For such young and inexperienced players, it was amazing to watch O shea and sean edogbo lead from the front. Gordan Wood (aside from the knock ons) looked a very tidy player and looks like a he inherited his old mans ability to smash lads in the tackle. Also Todd Lawlor for leinster looks a special player, he seems to have deceptive speed and the ability to attack soft shoulders and get over the gainline. Kinda reminds me of rob Kearney when he first broke through

I dont mind losing those 2 games if we win the rest of them! Last year the 2nd/3rd string teams didnt look up to it. Going off those 2 performances id see them taking points off of some visitors to the RDS

Munster needed that win. More than anything. I think the approach of playing the young guns consistently across the season is McMillan's greatest strength at the moment and it is also smart and quite self serving at times as it at least satisfies the objectives of developing players.

I rate McMillan and his abilities but if he cannot or does not think he will get a result of a weekend then at least he gives guys the minutes they need to show up and grow as players and gives fans the opportunity to see the future earlier than we usually would. Sometimes the team named does win against the odds too. I might be misremembering but I think that McMillan has had a few sub 24 year old players in most if not all of his 23s since joining the club, unlike the previous regimes which could and would reasonably be expected to roll out entire 23s of post 25 year old players.

Whether it's a successful approach for winning trophies I don't know but I get the impression that McMillan wants to have a third year squad of young but still reasonably experienced guys. It's the best way to convince the hierarchy to renew his contract if he can point to loyal and rapidly developing players and results like Saturdays. This style of approach will only improve the academy too. If you want to play senior level you must be at the level earlier and therefore you generate a culture of growth rather than stagnation.

I have always thought Irish rugby overcooked the youth in many ways. There is only so much to be gained from academy games and AIL. You need to be shown and exposed to the next level otherwise you get stuck playing a certain way because your level of play affects your routines and problem solving skills in game and will be embedded/coded with an AIL/Academy level of difficulty.

France and England are playing the young guys more often than not before those players get U20 caps be it PREM/Top 14 or PREM Cup. Irish clubs don't pick you until after those U20 caps have happened.

This Leinster fan watches the URC week in week out and there's nothing I'd love to see more than Leinster go to SA locked and loaded. Until they show the league the respect it deserves it will never realize it's true potential!

I'm much happier with the provinces this year compared to last year. Delighted for Munster. OShea has some balls for such a young fella. What a cross kick. Ulster need to and will work on those unforced errors. A draw in Scottstoon is good, but they should take a win when offered it. Leinster lost but look unbelievably scary in the not too distant future. Delighted Connacht grabbed the game in the end but the scrum the scrum has got to be technically sorted in Connacht Leinster and Ireland. Delighted Frawley like O'Shea had such good games. Looking forward to the weekend already.

Munster looked way better with a new 10, the team had some confidence compared with hanrahan at 10

It's hard knock to look at that Munster performance and not wonder if it would have happened if injuries hadn't  forced McMillan into picking that team.
He's always shown a preference for picking players based on experience instead of ability. How many of those young players would have made the starting line-up if he had a fully fit squad? Would someone like Sean Edogbo even have made the bench if Jack O'Donoghue, who in my opinion is an average player who gives up too many penalties, was available?
Would O'Shea have started if JJ hadn't picked up a knock in the Glasgow game. For me we've finally found the right role for JJ, coming off the bench to close out a game. Let him sit in the pocket and dictate the play rather than expecting him to run the backline at pace from the outset when he really doesn't have the physical traits needed to do so anymore.
With Ulster next week it will be interesting to see if those young players keep their starting positions, which they deserve to, or if McMillan will revert to type and pack the team with a load of old stagers purely based on how many games they've played.

I have it on good authority that the interim CEO will be a bit of an unknown and more heads will roll next week lad

Would have  liked  Leo to include JJ Kenny on the South Africa Trip.  Apart from that 3 points is decent return from academy lads.

Munster really need to get rid of the suits in charge 😢.  Pete's book says a lot when he is saying it..

I really hope Carbery actually gets decent game time at 10 this season, personally I think hes the guy Leinster should back in the knock-out epcr games. Sam came on and had both very good and poor moments. I really think we should have tries to keep Slimani or bring in one of the many world class tightheads available over the summer.

The problem is with gilbert kicking that means frawley will get less chances to do goalkicking

I think thats as good a round as you could ask for really. Munster and connacht win, ulster draw against one of the top teams in it away and the more games leinster lose before the inevitable pendulum switches and they start destroying teams again the better, itll keep them grounded.
