Getting a retrospective on everything. Can't wait for retrospective on different tableturf cards

My main complaint with the gear system is that it's tied to your outfit. If the abilities were separate, that would be amazing for customization. Otherwise it kinda sucks, some days I just want to wear cat ears but my cat ear set isn't built for all weapons :(

Oh god, he’s probably gonna do a retrospective on the maps, and he is NOT going to happy 😅

The most impactful buff you could give to Drop Roller (besides making it a universal ability, which would be way more deserved than Stealth Jump) is making it work on more things. I am absolutely dropping after I used a Booyah Bomb, I should be rolling

I think a potentially interesting way to buff tenacity is that while it's active, it gets a boost based upon how much health the user has left and the proximity to enemy players, rewarding players who are adept at staying alive while outnumbered, and preventing the ability from just being "I will stand back while my teamates die and I get a miniscule amount of special charge"

I understand why Intensify Action exists as an ability but it sucks if you’re playing a weapon that it doesn’t work on. The easier squid rolls part is misleading and garbage and faster squid surge could have a use of the maps weren’t so flat or even had some paths only traversable with a surge. Overall though for me it’s just gathering dust since most of my weapons can’t use it and so it’s dead weight for me.

I think Tenacity should give up to one main of Run Speed, Swim Speed, and Ink Resistance as well. The idea of Tenacity is to live, so this would mainly help splatlings or other weapons that need the movement and special charge.

Special power up as a main ability that allows it to buff specials in more interesting ways is something I totally agree on. For most specials currently the duration or radius increases are boring and for radius increases can lead to weapons depending on the ability too much. Having a more unique change I feel is better and can be balanced much more easily.

Also I have always hated how they removed the description saying what special power up and sub power up do for the weapon you have equipped, they should add those back in.

Remove tenacity and respawn punisher so that I never see those bs builds again

i do not think bomb defense should be in splatoon 4, changing a combo number depending on what gear someone has is a relic of splatoon 1 that should be gone
i'd much rather prefer a buffed cold-blooded instead

also drop-roller should work with reefslider, tsd, booyah bomb, crab tank, and possibly even when you zip to the ground when in zipcaster

i don't want special power up to be a main ability because i tihnk it'd be one where you just have a worse feeling special if you dont take up a whole main slot on your gear and everyone will want it
if pants were a 4th slot and it was 4 mains 2 subs instead, then i'd be up for it

Thermal Ink my beloved. Let me keep them in place behind a box with my Jet Squelcher forever

We can get a retrospective of all 4 Splatoon games

I actually like haunt. I think it's a cool concept with how it applies thermal ink on players. It's fun to use and I personally don't mind the respawn punisher effect when someone with haunt splats me.

I feel like special saver is heavily underrated. it's a large part of why cooler is broken, but people never really stack the actual ability more. 1 main+1 sub halves special loss already. shorter range cooler high value special options like zap and tri, especially vdapple could make use of it.

a big thing that sets special saver and special charge apart is that special charge is a multiplier to how much P you get for painting, which means it doesn't affect automatic special gain. so weapons like blasters where a lot of your special output comes from the auto charge barely benefit from special charge up while more heavily benefitting from special saver.

you dont see one su of special saver as much now because of how popular tacticooler and respawn punisher are, so if you die with cooler the ability does nothing and if you die to respawn punisher it might as well do nothing. and it still doesnt help weapons with bad specials or when you dont die enough times in a match with your special mostly charged or inngeneral

I’ve been wanting pants in the game since Splatoon

I don't like how the game is balanced around abilities.

Weapons are made very ink hungry because ink saver exists. Specials have a short duration because you can extend their duration. The stacking effects feel very unintuitive because again, they need to prevent you from throwing out 3 burst bombs. I feel similarly to a lot of these abilities as I did to Attack Up.

We have a tighter more predictable game if we take out a lot of the abilities. I prefer the abilities that in practice function more as on/off. Stealth Jump, Ninja Squid, Bomb Defense (Combo stopper), even Comeback keeps the Ink Savers in a more interesting fashion.

I think that ink recovery up should reduce white ink frames so that more ink hungry weapons feel more comfortable to use.

I keep forgetting tenacity exists 😂

drop roller could be buffed by extending the duration it gives its mobility boosts. currently it's 3 mains run/swim speed + ink resistance but only for 3 seconds. having this significant of a mobility boost for longer like 8 or 10 seconds could actually be a notable advantage of using it and would go well with the stealth jump nerf where stealthjump is lower risk but slower option and drop roller is higher risk but
faster option if it leaned more into the speed boost after the jump. I feel like it would set the 2 abilities apart more
also, I wonder if giving drop roller innate quick super jump but only for the airtime would be a good idea, to further lean into that "faster than stealth jump" idea.
