Considering that Six Flags is building Bakunawa which is almost 400 feet. We might see a few more but I think you’re mostly right and it will be more common to build way bigger or way smaller stuff.
On one hand, yes the basic up, down, done strata is likely going to die with top thrill 2. But the 400-499 height area as a whole is not going to die any time soon. If anything, it’s life barely begun. The reason we barely got any is because first of all, they are tall and will be decently expensive to make with the tools available today. Second of all, it takes a lot of space, not every park has an enormous desert that they can build into, if a strata were to be built at almost any park right now they would need to use every inch of land they have for it. Strata coaster’s aren’t dead, it’s just too early for them right now.
in other videos you should do like the history of them for example: in 2003 top thrill dragster opened as the worlds fastest and tallest coaster, and was also the first Strata coaster then 2 years later King da ka was made. taller and faster. hopes this helps!
we will never see any more stratas like ka or dragster/top thrill 2 however i reckon that at some point manufacturers like intamin or maybe even b&m if we're lucky will start making or trying out strata coasters with lift hills as another step up from the gigas we have now like fury but i think if that were to happen it would not be anytime within the next decade
We'll have to see where the technology goes. I don't think people like standing in line for a couple of hours to go over one hill. They want a more complete experience with inversions, helixes, air-time hills and good theming.
Top thrill 2 should have been demolished not kingda ka. Ka was still running fine and they had plenty of money to fix it considering it actually cost them more to destroy it then renovating it. And they also had the money to build a new ride as well
I still think Cedar point was sour on kingda ka taking TTD`s crown. I dont think the strata coasters dying, the one trick pony coasters are. I still think Hershey Park did the Intamin Blitz best with Stormrunner. I think the next few strata coasters hopefully will have more going on than just a launch, a tower and a brake run.
