No word defines the events of the 20th century as well as "Totalitarianism." The various authoritarian regimes, wars, dictators, ideologies, and tragedies profoundly marked the lives of millions of souls and placed this infamous century in a category that few can equal. One woman attempted to analyze and explain the origin of all this: Hannah Arendt.

Her book, "The Origins of Totalitarianism," seeks to explain the genesis and characteristics of the so-called "three pillars of hell": antisemitism, imperialism, and totalitarianism. This great work allows the reader to glimpse minute aspects of the formation, consolidation, and consequences of each of these events. Our documentary, in addition to a thorough review of the book, provides a general overview of Hannah Arendt's life and demonstrates how the events of her own biography are intimately related to her work.
