Tomas Haake, drummer for Meshuggah, has been programming his drums since at least 2005. He programs stuff that he can't even play and then forces himself to learn how to play it later.

Music is not a competition to start with. It's a way to express yourself through songs. Complexity and speed are not an absolute necessity.

Rick Beato stated (paraphrasing here) that Giacomo was allegedly slated to be on a segment but he couldn't actually perform up to standard, so that didn't happen 😂

Still scratching my head. If there's one thing that tick me off of guitarists, it's their unbridled ego.

Periphery literally have videos of them writing, playing and recording all their parts in their own studio 😅🤦 holy guitar snobbery hahaha

38 years of playing here...and yes, I still make mistakes.  And I love it especially on a gig.  Humbles me, makes me think, makes me practice to get better.  Makes me real...

I prefer listening to a guitarists showing off on YT without all the post-processing. Just the raw sound.

I just recently watched an interview with the guitar player from Creed talking about this very thing. He said that the tech being used today to make timing perfection is so good now that it makes the platinum albums he recorded 15 years ago in the most state of the art studios sound like demo recording sessions. It's so good that it's too good to be true good. And because of that hearing it live requires massive amounts of new stage tech to come close to the level of the actual album. I love quality tech, but I absolutely understand the frustration of anyone that has no clue such things are being done on those guitar licks that they are absolutely pulling their hair out over when they attempt to play them because it turns out that you literally can't play such a thing unless your name is Brainiac or Skynet.

Most of those overly edited videos are designed to impress technically rather than musically, which makes them neither enjoyable nor memorable to listen to.

How is creating an idea on one instrument then transcribing it to another fake? What an idiotic idea.

Back in the 1980s, I think it was 1987, I was in a studio when Suicidal Tendencies was recording there. Rocky was recording this lead track and they had this little white mini mixer thingy and there were like 6 tracks on it? I don't remember exactly. But he had recorded the guitar lead multiple times and they were using buttons to push in and out different parts of all the recordings to create this master single track. I was there with one of the guitarists in the band I was in, and we were blown away.   I think 'authenticity' is a huge subject and the debate has been going on as long as musicians have been recording songs.
