I cannot possibly imagine ANYONE else playing Dr. Johnny Fever. Every single character was perfectly cast.

The Turkey Drop episode is one of the funniest sitcom episodes ever done and probably quoted most

The best thing about WKRP was the human decency.  All the characters were ethical, all of them were kind.  This was a show where people treated each other and the audience with kindness and warmth.

They left one out about Herb's suits. On one episode, Venus looked at his suit and said that somewhere there's a Volkswagen with its seat covers missing. The suit was actually made out of Volkswagen seat covers.

"Arthur Carlson" was NOT portrayed as a "heavy drinker on WKRP !!!

The actors on WKRP are all of the highest professional character.   THEY ALL NAILED THEIR CHARACTERS AND INTERRELATIONSHIPS.  That's Greatness!   Down thru the butler character in the station owner's mansion !   Magnificent thespians!

The payola episode is my favorite.  Mr Carlson smacking his foot and saying that he has a monkey on his foot is hilarious!  RIP Mr Jump.

The very classy way that they handled the Riverfront Collisium disaster during The Who's 79' soundcheck in which 11 fans were sadly crushed to death

My favorite sitcom of all time.  In Detroit a radio station duplicated the turkey drop.  They dropped foam turkeys that people could turn in for real ones.  They even brought in Les and I think Venus to do some guest spots.

I remember an episode where the Herb character had a drinking problem, but do not recall the Mr. Carlson character being much of a drinker.

My favorite fact is, Mother Carlson had always intended WKRP to fail. We learned this in the final episode, that the business model for her financial empire was that you can make some businesses prosper by making others fail. So her plan was to keep WKRP around as a perpetual failure, but it would also serve as a safe place for her son Arthur to manage and never be obligated to succeed.

Her plan fell apart when, one day, Arthur got the idea in his head to switch to a rock format and hire Andy Travis as program director. At first she was tolerant of Arthur's efforts, even proud that he was passionate about something. But when the station actually succeeded and was no longer one of her financial empire's failures, she was ready to knock it back into "failure" category by turning it into an all-news station. It was Johnny who forced her to choose between her empire's success or her son's happiness, and she went with the latter.

I really like Mother Carlson. She succeeded in business in a time when women generally weren't allowed to, and while she could be demanding, she was never cruel. If anything, she seemed to like knowing people were a little intimidated by her, but other than that had no desire to just throw her weight around.

I also like her backstory: she was a showgirl who fell in love with a small-time businessman named Hank Carlson, and discovered she could make him fantastically wealthy with her skills. But she ended up taking over more and more of the business in the process, and Hank died a little bit with each new success she delivered for him. It's one of those things the American playbook doesn't have a good answer for: if you do happen to succeed, how do you know when you've had enough success? Mother Carlson, who'd been fighting against everything holding her back all her life, didn't know how to slow down.

I hate AI narration so much - mispronounced names, pauses in odd places, etc. FWIW, AI narrator, it's supposed to sound like Howard HESS-min, not HESSA-MAN like he's in the Marvel universe. Also, it's just 14 "facts" because one is more or less repeated - it's at the beginning and mentioned again toward the end. I watched the show's first run, and to me the call letters were explained by the Carp costume, regardless of what the show creator said. (He may have been honest, but ever think he might have been pranking someone with his explanation?) Herb crawling under a bathroom stall in his Carp suit and then brawling with the pig mascot of the rival station was hilarious.

This and Soap deserved final seasons.

I loved the late night talks between Carlson and Venus. I rewatched the episodes and noticed the wonderful conversations between the colors. It was subtle yet inspiring.

Jan Smithers was hugely underrated as a true beauty, also as an actress imo. I think that goes for most the cast as a whole... they were all incredible performers who sadly never got enough work or attention / recognition imo. The show remains to me as one of the top 10 best tv comedies of all time.

Fish Story was hilarious! Johnny getting more sober as he drank and then seeing the WPIG mascot cracks me up every time.

Pretty much everything about this show was perfect. Very good memories of watching KRP!
