Sonia Rykiel’s Spring/Summer 1998 collection presented a variety of feminine characters and styles, moving between soft knitwear, sharp tailoring, floral looks and evening-ready leather. Pastel knitted pieces contrasted with tweed jackets and trousers, while floral prints and embellishments gave way to black leather pants, micro dresses and sheer tank tops.

Black remained the dominant colour throughout, punctuated by changing palettes and textures. Coordinated hats, chain-handled bags and bright metallic sandals embellished with rhinestones completed the looks. Purple and blue eyeshadows, glossy lips and the designer’s signature-inspired curly, frizzy hairstyles added the finishing touch to this eclectic Paris runway.
