title : The Mavericks Just Bet Cooper Flagg's Future on a Rookie Nobody Saw Coming

Dallas needed someone who could make Cooper Flagg's life easier.
Then Sergio De Larrea arrived.
After a chaotic draft-night journey that eventually landed him with the Mavericks, the Spanish guard came to America and immediately showed why Dallas was willing to gamble on him.
His court vision, pick-and-roll playmaking and ability to create for others looked like exactly what Cooper Flagg had been missing.
Then came the problem.
De Larrea's Summer League shooting numbers exposed the biggest question surrounding his NBA future.
In this video, we break down Sergio De Larrea's journey from Spain to Dallas, his unusual draft-night story, what makes his passing so special, why his game could complement Cooper Flagg — and the weakness that could determine whether Dallas' gamble actually works.
If Sergio develops his jumper, the Mavericks may have found something special.
If he doesn't, defenses could make life extremely difficult for Dallas.

I think y'all deeply underrate his shooting. I mean, the worry is understandable if you only look at the summer league splits, but look at his stats last year on euroleague and ACB or even in the ACB finals vs Barça. He's actually a good shooter for his age. Not elite, maybe, but definitely good, he just had a rough stretch on the summer league

Mavs are going to look drastically different with actual talented PGs on the floor

The de Larrera/Moussa Cisse alley oops are going to be a lot of fun to watch

Many claim he might be a “Luka- Lite” because of his passing ability, size, and the fact he is a ball handling Euro. I think he will be more like Jason Kidd TBH, a pass first floor general who can knock down 3’s and play defense. Luka doesn’t play any defense most of the time (half the time he is complaining to refs while the ball is going the opposite direction 😂).

Oh he definitely can shoot, wtf? he shot over 40% from 3 and over 80% free throws in the Spanish league champion team

He definitely does not have self creation but I agree with everything else in this video

Soy fan del Valencia Basket y este chico tiene una inteligencia para jugar al basket y una tranquilidad fuera de lo comun para su edad. Cuidarlo mucho MAVS

He can learn to shoot well enough to be a threat, but you can’t teach the kind of floor vision that makes him such a great passer. If his work ethic is good, I love his chances.

Surprised you didn’t mention Zacchary Risacher

Not concerned with De larrea shooting in SL. He literally just finished playing overseas and flew to play in a different league and country in a matter of days.

I think De Larrea will be a solid all around player with elite playmaking

They not asking him to be Luka. Just play his game. You got talent all over the floor.

This title needs correction. The Rookie who needs recalibrate his shooting. He was 40% 30pt shooter in FIBA setting court. His shooting form is decent, save only tendency of the last flick before the ball released from his hand.

Keep thinking he can't shoot. 45.2 from the field. 42.9 from 3 and 81.9 from the free throw the season before signing with dallas. Thumbnail from someone who knows nothing.

Nobody? You only need to watch international tournaments since Delarrea was 14.
And San Antonio drafted Juan Nuñez two years ago but he got injury in the knee. But is the greatest talent for playmaking and lidership.

No you completely missed what jkid did with him.
He put flag in his worst position and made him learn by fire.
It was never the plan to run him as point.
Jkid did the same with yanis in his first year.
