Today, we discover the reason for a large, undeveloped area of the city: a massive subsidence zone that has the bypass highway in rough shape. Later, we check out the barrio of Punzara, in the south end, and find prime farmland and a mountain lake.

Warren, I love those places! Looks like you are really enjoying the process of exploring! When we were there, Kathryn and I got into the routine of taking the city buses as high up the hill as they would take us, then walk downtown, passing through many neighbourhoods. It is amazing how those buses climb those hills, providing access to so many people. We were asked if we wanted to buy specific plots of land in three different neighbourhoods: Orillas del Zamora (which you covered in a video), Las Tierras Coloradas, up the hill and west of the Universidad Nacional de Loja, and also Los Eucalyptos, just below the wind turbine peak. So much fun to look around!

I spent a lot of time wondering what farming means. I don't even know what farming in the US means . At one time, about 50 years ago I thought about being a dairy farmer, dodged a bullet on that one but, that doesn't even exist anymore in the US, no family dairy farms, at least not around here. Farming in Ecuador I have zero idea what that could be. I see some scrub cattle and every once in awhile a Holstein cow that looks very out of place. No winter eliminates a lot of farm work. Surely there's row crop, grain and hay somewhere. There was a time when we had hobby farmers here, people that worked a regular job and hoped they broke even on farming a few acres. I don't see that much anymore. Loja seems interesting, no big city problems and the temperature is way better than here. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing with us your search for a property for sale. I liked the most the last one. There are so beautiful views around. Make sure when you buy that it is not in flooding or mud slides zone. I find this video o bit boring - there was too much driving through not so nice areas. Also the music was rather annoying most of the time, except at the end. I guess this is a matter of a personal taste, but till now I always liked your music choices, but not this one. I hope you will be able to buy a beautiful, fertile land, possibly with some nice house and clean spring water in the area.
