This was my brother's favorite song... We were in awe when we first heard it in '89.. He passed away suddenly in 2017... I revisit it often and pretend he's singing along with me.
My favorite non-Beatles Beatles song! Released in 1989, if you weren't born in the 60s you might not get that but it is a beautiful homage to the Beatles ... elements of I am the Walrus, Penny Lane, A Day in the Life and All You Need Is Love ... blending their psychedelic sounds, orchestral textures, and coda styles all into a masterful single track! Tears for Fears certainly one of the best of the 80s groups!
God I love this song! Why is it that once you start listening to these fire 80's hits, you end up binging on all 80's music (no matter the genre 'cause they were all bangers) for hours on YouTube? Nothing and I mean straight up nothing will ever dominate the music, culture and fads of the 80's! So blessed to have lived and experienced the enlightening 80's. This 55 year old will always be an 80's child!
If you lived in this era, the 1980s, you know that 1989 was one of the best years in it! So much great music had come out by then, I hated to have it all end on December 31, 1989! Well done guys!!
