The FluxJet kayak is finally here, and I’m taking a production model out on the water for a complete first look and real-world test. This fishing kayak comes with a built-in jet drive motor at a surprisingly competitive price, but how does it actually perform? I test its speed, stability, handling, maneuverability, shallow-water capability, and how well the jet drive handles weeds and obstacles. If you’ve been waiting for the FluxJet kayak or considering a motorized fishing kayak without an exposed propeller, this overview and water test will show you what you need to know.

I live in Northern West Virginia. Have a one on order will receive it around October. There are lots of ponds and small lakes to use it on and a nice creek that dump into the Ohio river, but I will be using mine on very much looking forward to it coming.

That green is awesome! Really hope they offer that as an option.

The summer weeds in the rivers have no chance!!!

I have one ordered for August, but I think they are still behind. Going to be using it in the river. Thanks for the review!!

I come from owning 10+ seadoos over the year. With a Jet propulsion, how will it handle fishing in shallow water and near weeds? With a Jet ski I try to avoid in being in less than 3-4' of water if the bottom is soft. We'd suck things up in the jet and would have to jump in the water to clean it. I can imagine this will be a pain to being a true fishing kayak.

Great concept, really interested in one but no dealerships anywhere in PR, also, where's today joke my fellow angler friend.

Would love to see it made a little wider and a larger weight capacity.

looked like a blast. How was it in reverse? Lack of control in reverse is what's giving me pause on pulling the trigger.

Being a former jet boat owner how is the battery life vs prop driven? GPS, Spot Lock?

@EgoGhostX 2 months ago

question does it have something like jet skis where the engine stops when you fall it stops? if not why are they not required?

@SandGrits.164 1 month ago

Would you take this on the Delaware near New Hope/Lamberville

@rebeccariley2803 2 months ago

Does it come as a 2 piece option?

Id love one of these. But its a tad bit out of my price range. Looking at around $4000 for one of these once you add tax and shipping fees.

Some of the people complaining literally make no sense. Just say you don’t like it, Instead of making up so bogus explanation.

I bought one a year ago and recently got it delivered. Two weeks shy of a 1 year wait and 6 months behind the pre-order dates. It’s a lot of fun but I have a hard time considering it a kayak after spending time playing with mine.

It doesn’t paddle well at all. The boat sits pretty deep in the water (I’m guessing 8-12” based on where I was bottoming out), and the seat is pretty high, so paddling feels like you’re fighting a normal sized boat.

The size and shape of the boat make it a bit unwieldy on land; don’t think you can pull it up the shore like your average kayak without a set of wheels.

It gets into shallow areas with minimal junk getting through the intake but stuff does get through and you can’t clear it without getting in the water. Reverse doesn’t do much but it does clear out the worst of what gets in the prop. However, if something like a particularly woody reed gets in there it’ll cause intermittent issues until you can get under the boat and remove it.

I love not having to clear an external motor at every turn of the river and bumping over logs without worry is worth it for me; thankfully😅

I feel this is more of a recreational kayak. Its short, low weight capacity, and with no rudder or skeg, holding position to fish in wind, current, and chop isnt going to be easy.

@AnAngryAngler 2 months ago

No, They ineptly missed their shot. Basic bathtub with an innovative jet drive. So many missteps since launch. Might have been a better option to license the Drive to a Brand that could deliver the Numbers.
