After you cleaned the slag off the air variable stator plate and resumed testing I notice an arc flash in that air variable at about the 13:58 video mark and it appeared to be near the same plate set as before. Check it out. Anyway nice to see the beast working again. The Heathkit SB220 & 221 are workhorse amplifiers. I have an SB221...along with a few other 3-500Z based amps.

A veriac would come in handy.

And u tune in Those dosy meters are not for that type operation .. you shorted out the tubes . Now its time for a overhaul u need a hf meter . Tune in cw first then u have to returned a little in ssb

I hate to sound like a sad ham but these Cb guys just over drive the snot out these  amps! If they can’t hear ya with 400 watts do you really think another 400 is going to help. Head room and your tubes will last a life time.

Lucky Man!!! Was at BBIs, he was working on Channel Cat 220 with an ark here then another. Will never forget what Luke said about that voltage in amp!— Great Amp, make sure you understand them, and never operate with covers off.
