It would be a better documentary if they had subtitles to translate the German being spoken

Subtitles are needed to fully appreciate what the German speakers are saying.

We are pretty much only aware of this because a copy of the minutes survived. Imagine what we may never discover because all the evidence was successfully destroyed.

It's kind mind blowing how they actually did this. I can't even find the words to describe how insane this is

Are there any minutes available for the public? Would like to read what inidividual people said.

Imagine doing this over teams

Not sure what's up with the subtitles, its not showing up in all german sections

This was interesting But would have been better if there had been subtitled translations.

There's a movie called "conspiracy"
It's out on DVD and if you want to know what happened during the Wannsee conference watch that movie.
It is taken from minutes that was supposed to have been destroyed but we're were found in 1945.
It's very good.

The color image at 15.54 looks like it is from the 1978 miniseries Holocaust starring Meryl Streep. This records an actual event in September 1939 when a synagogue was burned and people shot. The Germans who did this (after seeing atrocities against volksdeutsche) were prosecuted by the German authorities, who demanded the death penalty. So it was not a policy, though the miniseries suggests that it was. In the end, they received prison sentences.

Why put part of the Nurenburg trial without subtitles.

Lange didn't commit suicide. He was killed in battle in the east.

Ironic.  We'd know so much less about the NSDAP if not for the excellent record keeping of the NSDAP.

Three of the attendees lived nice lives aftet the war too.

Otto Hofmann (1896–1982) was head of the race and settlement office he he spent a breif time in prison and ran a small businness.

Gerhard Klopfer (Party Chancellery): Arrested post-war, but prosecutors dropped charges due to lack of evidence; lived as a tax lawyer and died in 1987 (the last surviving attendee).

Georg Leibbrandt (Reich Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories): Charges against him were dropped in 1950; lived as an author/academic and died in 1982.

Where’s the translator?

Too many commercial interruptions. YouTube greed....

It would have been a lot better if translation was available when german was spoken .
It's like listening to half of the documentary.

Meh.  This is basically just a run of the mill documentary on the history of the Holocaust, not a documentary on the Wannsee conference. There is a very good movie on the actual Wannsee conference called Conspiracy, starring Kenneth Branaugh as Reinhard Heinrich.  The meeting was not only chilling for its topic, but also because of who quick the fate of the Jews in Europe was laid out.  The entire meeting took less than 90 minutes....and that included a break for lunch.  There were actually two dissenters at the meeting, but they were silenced in a private aside with Heinrich when he said that the camps being set up would not only house Jews, but also those who opposed the Reich.  That was Heinrich warning them to shut up and go along, or they would find themselves sent to the camp. When the meeting convened, they were both vocal supporters of the plan.

There is a great movie about this call  Conspiracy.

An account I read said that only one copy of the Wannsee Protocol notes remained, and its discovery by the Allies was almost a miracle.
The Germans had an extremely peculiar respect for official paper, documents and cards, which is why the Third Reich archives provided so much valuable historic information.  The fact that only one copy of the Wannsee Minutes survived indicates that the participants had destroyed theirs, not wanting their fingerprints on mass murder.
