Connors did NOT have a killer serve. He was strictly a "Get It in Play" guy and then used those ferocious groundstrokes to back it up.

He still owns 2 records. 1274 total match wins, and 109 tournament titles.

Nicely narrated.

Navaro and Muchova has this in common,  haveing this beautiful flouing stile which lookes efortless.

I was in high school when he was playing Borg and McEnroe. We were playing with racquets that are tiny compared with today’s. I can’t beleive I was able to hold rally’s as long as I could back in the day. So many fun memories. My dad had a Head Competition. The first graphite racquet. I used it and it boosted my serve to 120 mph! Unfortunately, I never developed my ground strokes to match my serve. I did serve to a young girl who happened to be training at the club I was practicing at with my high school team back in 1977. Her coach saw me serve and asked my coach if he could borrow me for a few minutes. He had me serve to this girl who must have been 12-13 at the time. He told her if she could handle my serve that she was ready to face any woman’s serve. I served, she returned. It was like hitting against a wall. She got everything back and then we’d volley until I made a mistake. She was truly amazing. A couple of years later I saw her again; This time on television at the finals of Wimbledon! Her name was Andrea Yeager. True story!

That Wilson T2000 raquet looked like it was borrowed from a badminton game. I don't see how it could have provided much additional power. It's a good thing Jimmy's top rivals in his prime were using heavy wooden sticks with heads so small it was nearly impossible to utilize any significant topspin.

Connors was the "Pioneer"  of  1-baseline tennis   2-2-handed back hand  and most of all the best DEFENCIVE tennis player.  This means his RETURN OF SERVE   was the best in the game-

In 1974 my father, who got me into playing tennis, was a big fan of Jimmy Connors and I too became impressed with his game.  I just wished he had not lost to Arthur Ashe in 1975 at Wimbledon.  During that time period, I followed many professional players closely and I became a fan of Manuel Orantes (who defeated Connors at the US Open.  Connors was not liked much by the public, but in retrospect I came to admire his game again.  Individuals who accomplish much in life (at the highest levels of any profession) are probably not the easiest people to get along with.  I remember the media back then publicizing them as a couple and there was nothing about their breakup.  Now I know why.

Everyone thinks that CE is so innocent and proper and from I've heard and what Jimmy seems to be saying, she was very promiscuous. People go through phases, most people do some experimenting when they're young.   I thought that Jimmy would be the dominate one in that relationship but, sounds like Chris is the one and that's why that didn't work.

So Chris was no angel either........

He should have kept that private.

The Outsider wasn’t exactly a “tell-all” — there are several sections where he says he won’t discuss the details, either about his legal issues or extramarital affairs.

More a “tell-some.”

I THOUGHT THEY WOULD END UP TOGETHER  BUT HAPPY TO NOTE HE IS HAPPILY MARRIED ...EVERT SEEMS TO HAVE GONE THROUGH DIVORCES. BUT I LOVE THEM BOTH.

Both evert and connors are up themselves

To tell your story and sell your book you have to be honest . They were both too  combustible to be married though they looked like the golden couple. I understand that Jimmy was hurt that he had no say on the abortion but it was her call. I also understand that it is very painful for Evert that Connors has published this painful episode in their lives. Both great champions. Connors was great to watch, a fighter, and Chis was like the princess of tennis, a great champion.

Connors is right. It's HIS life as well as hers. He's got a right absolutely.

Connors most likely has held bitter feelings towards Chris because of the abortion which means she chose abortion cutting him out of the decision.  Abortion is death of a fetus which would have been a son or daughter for them.  I understand that a baby would have gotten in the way.  Timing. I also think they would not have made it together.  Everything worked out well for both except their baby was never allowed to take a breath.  Abortion is a.choice between life and death.  Permanent.  Jimmy seems to have found a mate for life. Chris never has.

its over 50 years ago. let sleeping dogs lie

I say themrcommors is goid by afukt he is not a description . Yry see pasy the lanels yo make things in other peoples lives to be. The average person able to win tennis games . Like idtinary person aboe yo win wars

Just a minor correction:  it was the late Bud Collins who dubbed Connors the Belleville Bomber, not Basher.
