a similar incident happened in Dallas in 2018 with tragic results. after a long shift, a Dallas police officer walked into the apartment on the 3rd floor, 1 below her 4th floor digs thinking it was her home. thinking he was an intruder, she killed the man who lived there with her service sidearm.

I was walking out of a restaurant with my GF one day. As we were walking through the parking lot,  I passed a silver SUV, (not mine) she got into it,  no hesitation.  She was sitting there about 45 seconds before she realized that wasn't mine.
