Air Florida Flight 90 crashed into the 14th Street Bridge in Washington, D.C., approximately 30 seconds after takeoff, falling into the ice-covered Potomac River. This documentary tells the story of the crash, from the Boeing 737's pre-takeoff preparations to the struggle for survival in the freezing water, using real archival footage and cockpit recordings.

On January 13, 1982, heavy snowfall disrupted life and air travel in Washington. Air Florida Flight 90 received clearance to take off after a long delay. Snow and ice accumulating on the wings, a deactivated engine anti-icing system, and misleading engine indicators jeopardized takeoff. Despite the co-pilot's concerns, the aircraft continued to accelerate down the runway.

The crash affected not only those on board the aircraft. A total of 78 people died, including those in vehicles on the bridge. Those who survived the crash awaited rescue in the icy river. Five people were rescued through the efforts of a helicopter crew and people on the shore. Arland Williams' selflessness in giving the lifeline he was given to others became one of the unforgettable stories of this event.
