I m so grateful to have found this. Susan's struggles, self doubts have plagued me. At 78, I am still trying to find my way and know there is so much to learn. Your discussions are helpful. Thank you
I thank you for telling people to just get started…. I was too insecure to attempt to paint for many, many years and realized in my late 60’s that if I didn’t try, it would always be a regret. I have been mostly learning from videos and the only class I did attempt to take was not what I was looking for. I had no idea in the beginning what Was what and was made to feel like I wasn’t worth their time….. fast forward and now I am in my early 70’s and painting has become my passion. I have loved the process, I might never get to be a professional but for me it’s believing in myself . I have loved all the artist I have met through Instagram and The Portrait Society, I feel like I have finally found my tribe!
This is so inspirational, authentic and descriptive of the trials of making art. Thank you Quang and Susan. These conversations are incredibly insightful.
what an amazing treat!!!! Quang Ho and Susan Lyon chatting!!! wow! thank you! Susan I totally get you on the past. I was there too long. Wow are there any more?
Susan said 80% of her work never sees the light of day?? That gives me hope. I am watching this video for the third time. . I’m 20 years older than Sue, but I can relate to everything she says, although I’ve not been the professional she has. I Call myself the silver fox..semi professional .. sold in regional galleries.❤
Their mind, their work, Wow! Your presentation has awaken Inspiration, admiration, gratitude and above all my hearth is warm to realize that artist your level, still have their feet on the ground and their humane side is so connected like a glow of a bright star. Thank you both.
Thank you for this chat. I relate so much to Susan regarding line. It brought memories when i was a kid, being so irritated with the thick black outlines in my coloring books 😅 I didn't know how to get my hands the materials I craved. frustratedly I colored in the books provided to me but, remember unsuccessfully trying to get rid of the black lines 😐
Thank you both for your insights. Loved the part about the play of edges. The in-depth talk will help many who are starting out to be more comfortable with the process of becoming an artist and more comfortable with themselves. I have been painting a while and it helped me become more comfortable with the several approaches that I do. Thank you! I was listening to this while I was staining my new bigger easel. Exciting!
We live in exciting times! Wonderful talk 👄👏👌❤ You are both so much fun to listen to. Thank you for your generosity and willingness to share hard won knowledge. I feel enriched listening to your ideas and was impressed with the depth of your honesty.
wow1. I listened to the whole talk. Lovely talk and very informative. I have followed you, Quang Ho for a long time now. I have just started following Susan. You Both are such an encouragement to me. I met you at the portrait society years ago Quang, and then again at the Wayne. Plein air workshop. My husband was the handsome man sitting under the tree reading! Anyway, God bless, and thank you. Carol
Susan overstretches her fingers, I would enjoy more of ChangHo, He some has values that are more interesting. She is not what I expected. He big ego is.......
