In Badalpur village of Ghoda Dongri tehsil, Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, Tara Gupta was struggling to raise her two children after the death of her husband. For nearly eight to nine years, the family lived under a temporary shelter made of sarees and a yellow tarpaulin. Tara’s serious ear-bone illness made it difficult for her to work, while her children faced problems related to food, education, safety, and shelter.
After the family’s condition was identified through a survey under the Annapurna campaign, immediate assistance was arranged. The family was shifted to a safe rented house, and support was provided for food, medical care, children’s education, clothing, bedding, kitchen items, gas stove, fan, utensils, and other essential household needs.
A permanent house, described as “Sudama Ka Mahal,” was constructed for Tara and her children. The house includes rooms, a kitchen, bathroom, electricity fittings, windows, a terrace, railings, and other facilities. The family also received ration supplies and essential items for daily life.
