We caught lots of our target, incredibly beautiful fish! We were taken to the best spots!
It was great to be able to encounter one for the first time in a long time, since I saw one in the wild as a child.
This beautiful fish is an invasive species, and it appears to have spread its habitat across almost the entire Japanese archipelago. However, its habitat is relatively limited, and not much information about it is publicly available...
There's a reason for this, which is explained in the video.
This time's target was the Siberian rose bitterling.
It's so beautiful that we'd like to call it an honorary invasive species!!

Once in a while, I'll rummage around, fish, and eat while I'm traveling! lol

Since I don't have that kind of valuable information, I enlisted the help of "Hide, the Tanago Fishing Association," who posts information about tanago fishing on Twitter, and we got to meet some tanago head-on!
Hide's Twitter (recently X) https://x.com/hxcfj065OqtRjfa?s=20
In addition to Tanago information, he also has a ton of other interesting fishing tips (his rule is not to disclose the locations, and he abides by that rule).
Mononoke-nii-san caught mostly minnows (motsugo), but Hide-san caught a lot of Tanago, so we ended up creating an on-site Tanago aquarium. However, this time there was no gravel, aquatic plants, stones, or driftwood lying around, so the tank ended up being a pointless tank with no low floor and no bottom filtration lol.
