Take a shot every time he digresses

The people’s republic of America radio broadcast is a reference to the real radio broadcasts of Hanoi Hannah during the Vietnam War

I always assumed Anchorage was a pyrrhic victory. It took 10 years and a ton of resources. I assumed the oil was largely drying up and the city itself was destroyed. Americans just needed the PR win to help prop up flagging morale.

One odd thing about the Yangtze Memorial in FNV is that memorials are typically made after a campaign has ended.  This implies that campaign was over by the time the bombs fell, with enough time for a prewar monument. Another odd thing is the Van Buren description of Lake Mead being unusually radioactive, but in-game it is one of the cleanest sources of water.  Perhaps the initial radioactivity was some Chinese sabotage against US water supplies that naturally cleared up by the time of FVN. Other things of note: the Shantau reference could just be an American unfamiliar with Chinese geography. Alternatively, actions in Shantau and the Gobi might not have been whole campaigns but secret ops missions that were made public either due to failure or propaganda.

This makes me want a Fallout spin-off that takes place prewar, the great war, and the initial chaos.  Like your character is a veteran in the conflict; the bombs drop, and you have to manage the ensuing aftermath...a true survival take on the Fallout series

Seriously, Nate? Dropping a 3 hour video a half hour before my bedtime? Damn you.

The idea that the liberation of Alaska wasn't as impressive as the US made it out to be is actually supported by General Chase's insane revisionism with the Operation Anchorage simulation.

Perhaps he was mad that his grand achievement was essentially a lie and was facing massive Imposter Syndrome for being treated as a hero when in reality he wasn't.

So the simulation was his chance to write a more impressive story that matches his status, no matter how divorced from reality it was.

One of my favorite examples of China in fallout is LOB enterprises and finding the Zhu Rong v418 pistol in Fallout 3. I randomly came across it on one of my first playthroughs and it was the first time I really felt like China was a character in the game rather than just a part of the lore.

In the Fallout Tabletop game, i played a Mr Handy that was going crazy due to being hacked by Chinese infiltrator prior to the Great War. That was a fun campaign

Nate’s it going guys, how here

2:33:54 It could be that the invasion was a diversion to take pressure off of the mainland. A small task force, reinforced by expendable robots in sufficient numbers, would be able to cause quite a ruckus. and even if they werent a real significant threat militarily, they could be a political weapon, forcing the americans to withdraw forces from the invasion to deal with an ultimately expendable side theater.

2:33:27 it's not Quite as absurd as it seems. Hannibal was in the middle of a decade long invasion of the Roman peninsula when Scipio launched his invasion of Carthage. Throw in the Chinese stealth technology and the number of known bases/subs/spies in and around American cities and you've got the stage set for a crazy covert invasion from within

54:30 This is yet another example that supports the idea Fallout 3 was supposed to be set much earlier.  Maybe around the same time FO76 takes place.

With the Alternate Start mod for New Vegas, I like playing the Chinese Spy background. I roleplay as one of the last remnants of descendants of Chinese spies in America who is first interested in recovering tech like the stealth suits, and collect information on what the local powers are up to.
Is there still a Chinese command to report to? Who knows?!

26:00  This part here actually sounds like a new version of bio-diesel.  Yeah IRL people made a variety of petroleum replacements that are.... rather expensive, but still functional fuel.  The key thing is that they're made out of plant matter.  One version actually uses corn not the corn grain you eat, but the corn stalks that the grain grows on.  The idea is to harvest the grain, then use the now dead plant to make fuel.  It's not quick, but does actually work.

This video is making me realise geopolitics, geopolitics never change.

Regarding President and Chairman - it's always possible that China in the Fallout universe could have had different people for the head of state and head of party - currently Xi Jinping is both, but I believe that the positions have been separate in the past

I love the fact that Fallout's Post-War China is as mysterious as The Elder Scrolls' Akavir.

The green "magma/lava" for lack of a better term is molten Ultracite. It is also seen in the Gleaming Depths raid, as the final boss emerges from it.

13:55 the news report you're pointing to doesn't really confirm if the Philippines was under Chinese control, it only mentions that US Troops stationed in Mambajao are experiencing unusually cold weather for the region, if anything that confirms US presence in the Philippines and given how aggressive the US is in the Fallout universe, it's possible that they'd retake their former colonies, including the Philippines, maybe there'd be Chinese forces invading from the north and US forces trying to push them back.
