Think you can spot a fake Rolex? I put that question to the test.

In this video, I take a fake Rolex around New York City’s Diamond District and ask professional watch dealers one simple question: Is it real or fake? Some inspect it for just a few seconds, while others take a much closer look before giving their verdict.

But I didn’t stop there…

After visiting the experts, I headed to Rockefeller Center to see what everyday people think. Can the average person tell the difference between a genuine Rolex and a fake, or is it harder than it looks?

These videos make it 50/50 and like the first person you can compare and look for differences. Having a pair of real, pair or fake and doing just one individually would test a dealers real knowledge.

it's not "aftermarket" it's a clone, rep, fake, "aftermarket" usually refers to added diamonds or different dial

The problem is the initial handling of each watch everyone says it's lighter, and then that causes them to go down the examination route to prove that one is the fake. Anyone who handles watches all day will easily percieve the weight difference of Jubilee to an Oyster. I'd like to see the test done with identical models. I'd like to see what these luxury watch sellers are made of.

Dealer for 15 years in Miami. It's amazing how good the machining is on super clones. Almost 1:1. Easy to tell when you pop the case back. With all that, they CAN NEVER, get the card right. You'll always see the watch but never the card.

Had a bit of a smile when the guys argued that the jubilee one is fake due to its weight. The jubilee strap is about 20g lighter than the oyster one. In other words this is more than 10% of weight of the entire watch. Of course you feel a difference when comparing it side by side. Do the test again, with both watches either on jubilee or oyster bands. The real superclones are nowadays having to the gram the same weight as gen.
