When he was a child he was a very promising football player, stood out among his peers. He even has the built of a striker/midfielder. He quit playing football at one point because he changed schools (his parents, that is) or something, and they demanded him to take part in lots of academic but extracurricular activities. (Or something along those lines, idk the exact story.) So he quit out of spite , and joined the nerds who are too talented to become football stars. Certainly he wasn't one of those, but he was very bitter about the change of his routine. Also, the story has something to do with a Christian school 🙄 so it all makes sense. (Why should we let our children be happy; let's force them to live under non stop terror of "god's punishment"). [My notes, my opinion.]
So how do I know this, you ask? Well, very simple: in Travel Man he told the WHOLE STORY in the episode where he was in Switzerland with Frank Skinner.
So the point is, Richard Ayoade's BS "I have nothing to do with sports especially football" is just a very far-fetched comedy persona of him. And people (the "celebs"🙄) on these shows completely lapped the act up.
Then you can see him executing an excellent free kick in suit&tie. You can TELL he knows how to play football.
But it's not even a huge mystery; watch the Frank Skinner episode of Travel Man.
Oh, and the way he plays golf in another episode! Like out of this world good. He is a sportsman (he used to be - sadly these days he looks like a skeleton). I used to fancy him, now he just looks like someone that's coping with a severe Wegovy-addiction. And he's chosen to wear that ridiculous " white-man haircut" Short cut, mimicking a white business-techbro's style.
Ah, and his support of transphobia has never sat right with me at all.
Regardless, it's good to watch old clips of him being attractive and lively. With actual flesh on his bones. 🙄
Essay completed.
