I stopped by a tool handle manufacturer south of Batesville, AR with my worn out Stilleto framer. It turns out, they make the handles for Stellieto and had the cylindrical wedges and all. So at least the handle is truly American made.
I have a 10oz stellto wood handle hammer (finish smooth face) and liked it alot! That led me to the 15oz tibone that I use today. The inert dead nature of titanium hammers is what I love and not that this would happen they don't rust. Just a nice thing that cost way more to get but is worth it to many people.
Been framing for 12 years. Started running the double about 2 years ago and I love it. The handle is a little thicker than the stiletto which I like and they hold up pretty damn well for the price. Plus if u break it just bring it in and they keep replacing it. Unlimited hammers for 60 bucks? I'm in
I got one of those klein ones coming from a milwaukee 19oz. I love that's is heavier makes for a harder hit. Love the side nail puller and the fact that the claw end and reg nail puller is decently sharp. But looking at this video I realized that the head didn't protrude as much is why it took so long to get used to 😄
I worked as a framer. I will never own a milled face hammer. All it takes is missing a nail once to understand why you don’t want one. On the upside it’s an effective meat tenderizer.
So I picked the Klein and it’s alright as far as weight goes, but I did like how wide the head was. Reminded me of the 18oz toughbuilt. The nail puller was also surprisingly easy to use.
I just bought the doyle game😢, had to buy it online, still waiting for it, but i do have a 14oz titanium hart hammer, and it's been my favorite hammer of all time.
I saw the klein hammer at the local lowes and bought it right away, i love the profile of the claw, and that it has nail pullers on the top of the hammer.
Some stilletto handles neck down right before it goes into the eye, like the one you have. I figured that would be a weak point. Plus the HF has a lifetime guarantee and i can stop on the way home and not be without my hammer. I like the waffle but i like to blunt the end on a piece if rebar or grinder. I was hesitant to buy one, but wouldnt go back. My elbow shoulder and arm never feel it even after driving 16s allday. No nailguns in industrial concrete forming.
I have to say I’ve always preferred the east wings mainly cause there are never handle problems with them and they are good hammers. But I have started to wonder if I shouldn’t buy a cheaper wood handle framing hammer just to see if I like it. Note on hammers. I am fairly confident in saying that just cause I like a 20ounce hammer and someone else likes a 14 doesn’t really mean anything. It’s each persons personal preference. And my choices reflect my style of hammer use. I honestly have never liked light head hammers as I feel like I’m having to swing the thing so much harder to bury the nails. A 20 ounce hammer is like a nailgun to me though drives beautifully and I don’t mind swinging it. Plus if I have something big I need to hammer on it’s nice there too. Tap over a 2x12 gets the job done. Smaller framing hammers it’s like they don’t even budge that stuff. But I’ve had people pick up my hammer and be like why you swing that heavy thing all day? 😂
