Two out-of-control British teenagers are sent by their desperate families to India to get a taste of old-style, traditional parenting. Image-obsessed 17-year-old Shola Bruce-Coker has stopped studying books, having discovered boys and parties. Joining Shola is excruciatingly shy Joiee Birch, who uses alcohol to cover his social embarrassment. For a week, they live with the strict Virk family in Gurgaon, north of Delhi's sprawling suburbs. Joiee immediately resorts to drinking to deal with living with strangers, pretending he is suffering from jet lag. When image-conscious Shola refuses to wear an Indian headscarf to a memorial ceremony in honor of Ashwani's father, all hell breaks loose. Ashwani throws Shola out of the apartment, forcing her to consider her feelings about what she looks like for the first time in her life.

They're Shaming the poor girl for clothes,mere clothes, gaslighting her into thinking she's wrong, they could've requested and not judge her bcoz of her clothes,their own daughter calling her a pr*stitute says a lot about them.Shola clearly said the way she dresses is how she expresses herself.She was made to feel bad, for what. She was gotten to a whole new culture and command to respect traditions which she doesn't even know, her parents are at fault honestly. No kid deserves this.

It's funny to see how the kids in these programmes think they are soooo tough because the smoke, drink and swear, yet they can't handle the slightest bit of adversity, like Shola who cries and screams when the host father has had enough of her antics.

this is one of the most toxic indian families, the father is emotionally immature, doesn’t know how to handle different people, he thinks there is one mould which every child must succumb to and then he would handle that easily, cause he is aware of only certain kind of problems. Learn to inspire your child not threaten them, because inspiration lasts even after you are gone threat lasts till the time you are threatening enough.

There is hope for joey, he is really trying to improve him self….but Shola needs a lot of love and work on herself.
The host family was wonderful.

The dad is really rude. The fact that they are judging her based on her appearance, clothes, and hair is so irritating. Just let her be. I’m Indian as well, and I wear shorts and crop tops — what’s wrong with that? What they’re doing is controlling, not teaching discipline.
