Fun Fact: Emerl copies the Spindash from Shadow as Shadow is the first to use the attack

Despite the short runtime, this episode is a visual masterpiece. From Shadow & Maria's heartfelt bond, to her fainting after running for a while because of her condition, Shadow's awesome fight against Emerl. Everything turning into a personal Silent Hill hell for Shadow as everything is quickly passing him because of his PTSD. The frames of Maria's death. AND MAN. I was not expecting Gerald's execution to show up at all. It's been a while since we've seen or heard that until now.
Well done, Sega. It seems you've truly redeemed yourself.

i love how silent that emerl fight is, no backing track, just the sounds of trading blows and whirring machinery.  Its perfect (though i wouldnt have been mad if it was a smidge longer).

A cracked moon with its pieces making a ring around it is the coolest set piece a franchise could have and Sonic Team just REFUSE to make it a permanent part of the games

5:25 Bro got possessed lmao

crazy how they have a whole firing squad and yt still going "yep! MADE FOR KIDS"

I think that shot of maria as shadow is falling basically confirms that shadows last memory of maria was witnessing her getting shot in the heart and that's the most depressing thing to realize

When Maria said “Aurora Borealis”, I was suddenly overcome with the urge to make a Steamed Hams joke.

“Don’t end. NOOO!!” seriously those 6 min felt like 2 😮‍💨

5:03 Only us Sonic fans can get so excited at seeing the moon destroyed lol 😂

I love how they showed the moon is still blown up since adventure 2. That confirms that Takashi Iizuka’s statement is true the destroyed side of the moon was just facing away this whole time.

its crazy that the vids in the official channel is mark for kids when it has
- dark and broody imagery
-ptsd inducing moment for the character inside it
-a fricking firing squad execution scene (heavyly stylized with the ammount of glitches symbolizing the bullets
-and a kid getting shot (albeit still with a artistic form of it)

I'm so glad Sonic Team is starting to take the franchise seriously again! I hope this is just the beginning and they go on to create a full series or movie in this style. We really need it!

The animation and illustration style used to depict Maria's death is so powerful that even when it's off-screen, you still feel the chills and the haunting sensation😱😔😢👩🩵

BRO THAT WAS LEGIT A NARUTO FIGHT

It also bears to mention. Shadow knows its a nightmare. When he recognizes the sequence of events, he talks as if this was an alteration of a common occurrence. That means that Shadow goes to bed ever night expecting the same nightmare.

Btw, for those wondering why he has a yellow emerald instead of his usual green one, it’s a reference to his Sonic Generations Rival Fight where he guards that damn 4th Chaos Emerald, which is yellow like in the animation.

Black Doom is torturing Shadow with his past or something.

Who's ready to kick Black Doom's ass again? 🖐

Did anyone else notice the fact that some of the scenes in this were also in the 90s style Gerald’s journal commercial.
