Our new documentary about sexualized violence in Kazakhstan, produced with the support of UN Women Kazakhstan, tells real stories of survivors firsthand.
Gender-based violence is a widespread and serious problem in Kazakhstan. According to the UN, every sixth woman experiences violence. We all share a responsibility to create a safe and just environment free from sexualized violence. When we witness or learn of such cases, we must not remain silent but act—report to the appropriate authorities, support survivors, and promote cultural and social change aimed at eradicating this painful problem.
This film includes descriptions of sexualized harassment, gender-based violence, and suicide attempts, and may trigger traumatic memories and strong emotions.
If you have suffered from gender-based violence, please contact the unified government contact center at 111. If you have experienced harassment or other forms of sexualized violence, you can seek help from the SVET Foundation at svetpf.org.
