Four independent printheads. Beltless XY motion. Plans for up to 16 colors. The LightMake L4 has some seriously interesting ideas—but can this new company deliver a printer worth your money?
Today on 3-D Print Rancher, we’re digging into the good, the bad, and the ugly:
• Four-head printing and claimed one-second head changes
• Linear motors, print speed, and usable build volume
• Printing four parts at once
• Four colors standard—and what the optional FEDS system promises
• Launch pricing, accessories, and the full-system cost
• Software maturity, replacement parts, and long-term support
• What LightMake needs to prove to compete with Bambu Lab
The hardware gets my attention. The bigger question is whether the software, reliability, and support will live up to it.
This is a research-based preview using published specifications and company updates. Performance claims and shipping targets still need real-world verification. The planned 16-color capability requires optional FEDS hardware; it is not included with the standard four-color printer.
