The fact they could just put buster back together like that in field is actually kinda cool.

I remember watching this episode when I was really young, and I thought that buster was Adam, and they dropped him from a helicopter. It made me so sad. I was also convinced that people had metal bones for a few years😂

Buster inspired me to name my knee replacement Buster.

Wish they just maintain this "vloggy" type kind of presentation. Looks more natural rather than "commercially" way in ff seasons

That shot with the raft from the Indy movie is actually very good. Raft from a plane, to the ground, bottom side down, slidywidy. Maybe it was scaled, but for its time and genre, yeah!

36:20 Don't try it at home? Well there goes my plans.

Honestly, the situation is, if im in a plane that i know its going to crash and i WILL die in it, i rather take the chance with the raft 😅

Calling the last is "plausible" kind of weird when we already know she survived. I remember reading about the stewardess' case. She lost her consciousness right at the blast and she actually fell more then 2 meters of snow. She was incredibly lucky. The only way she could have been more lucky if the bomb had not gone off.

That slide reminds me of an Air Crash Investigation episode where a slide deployed inward and the fire axe was needed to break it.  The slide had the flight attendant pinned to the wall.  There was also a flight a few years ago where the slide left the airplane during the landing sequence.  Fascinating research.

Thank you.

This is the first time I watch this episode... One of the most difficult for all the myth busters. We can feel the tension (more) on Jamie... Great work of our late imahara. It's a bit sad but also sweet and sour to remember this team together in a time where we here in Brazil could feel American as friends, real friends and bold entrepreneur

Aviation myths are basically impossible to test as they can't reproduce the exact circumstances for obvious reasons, like shooting a hole to the airplane which is airborne. Or whole plane crashing down. In other words, these testings busts nothing as the methods and circumstances are completely irrelevant. (Speaking mostly about the other episode though, where they tested the decompression myth, and also referring to the last test in this episode.)

Figure that in RL, by the time folks realized that the pilot was having a bad day, his head and neck could have been sufficiently burnt that they detached, resulting in the rescue crew finding his head laying in his lap and assuming an explosive decapitation versus a burn through.
And as usual, they ignore major facts to the myth - the tail of the plane landed on a mountain covered with snow and slid to a halt via the pine trees covering it - it also would have still had the tail wings and was reported as having slid backwards down the mountain - they didn't bust this real story, instead, they busted their methodology.

... so I've seen this before, but something I've just realised.

The helicopter was creating a downdraft, pushing against the raft. When the film did it, it was out of a cargo plane. No downward force.

a bit of trivia about the B17 tail gunner is he continued firing his weapon while falling.

6:44 Needed to rewind and have a second take because I didn't know I heard right the first time.
I did in fact not hear right the first time.

Unsupervised babies be like 12:20

Not sure how many times I've seen this episode, but this was the first time I noticed the 'sharks/jets' joke at 7:00

They got the best possible result with the slide, 100% success, and still called it busted for reasons that didnt need testing and were known beforehand 😭

I'd  love to know more about the sikorski helicopter big dawg.
