Being strong doesn't mean you have to be a physical specimen. This man, with all the adversities he faced in life, was determined to live, and showed a strength and resolve that not many people have.

I wonder if the irony of becoming trapped while out trapping beavers did not cross his mind at some point

This guy seems really cool. I want to sit down with him and hear all his life stories.

If i were him i would have been more worried about the beavers tracking me down and eating me alive than anything else

Ironic a trapper getting trapped.

what an impressive character. Great survival story. Amazing what sheer willpower can do.

I have total compassion and empathy for the ordeal this man endured...however it seems ironic he was out trapping animals that must have been in very similar circumstances in their final moments!

Of all the episodes of I Shouldn't Be Alive I have watched (and I gulped them all), this is one that impressed me the most for the mental strength of this "ordinary" man, and his refusal to give up.
In difficult situations where I'd be tempted to capitulate, I sometimes think of this episode and it changes my mindset.
So thank you Ken Hildebrand, kudos and long life to you!

Ladies and gentlemen this is why you tell people where you are going and when to expect you back.

This was the first episode of this show I ever saw late at night like 6 or 7 years ago. I remember being totally amazed by this man's will to live, bravery and inventiveness. All of that is true today.

This was so tense and hopeless. What a man!

This episode should´ve been called - The Revenge of the Beavers!

What a wonderful story. You are a brave man. Happy you are alive and walking again

Wow. What a crazy experience and such a positive outlook. His smarts on survival really kept him alive, I was so sure the farmer would eventually find him! What are the odds another search and rescue guy would find him! Such a brave man.

How come they didnt show how thankful he was of Roy, that he saved him. I think that is an important clip

This man is a hero who has saved many people, and is an intelligent survivalist. He was also doing a service to the environment by dealing with a overpopulation issue, which can damage ecosystems. He seems like a great human being who should be remembered fondly for use to come!
