I love Pátzcuaro and it is our go-to mountain destination from our home on the coast in Guerrero. It’s about a 3 hour drive for us, and the cool climate is a welcome relief in the summer. After living in Mexico for 20 years, I find I am in the minority amongst extranjeros, as I have never shopped at Costco in Morelia, or anywhere else.  For years friends would ask me what I wanted from the US and, aside from a Butterfingers candy bar, I couldn’t think of a thing.  I love shopping at the local tienda whose owner calls you by name. For me, my biggest joy of living in Mexico are the friendships I’ve made with the people who are my neighbors., and spending my money in the local stores might be a bit more expensive than a US based box store, pues, ni modo. To me, it shows respect for my community to buy from Mexicans. If I wanted to live a US lifestyle, then I would never have left there.  I guess I would say to your audience who are considering moving to Mexico, you don’t have to patronize the places you are used to. Give local  grocery stores and Ferreterías your business on the regular and make friends in the community. Pátzcuaro is rich in culture and history. It is so much more than just being conveniently located near Costco or Home Depot. Viva Mexico❤

I missed the live video, but I spent 3 days in Patzcuaro and visited the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. You can hire a guide in Patzcuaro and it's about an hour drive to El Rosario. It's incredible how many Monarchs are in the trees at 11000' elevation. Not sure if you will get this comment.

Fantastic interview! She is very interesting and I’m so amazed she leaves her doors open! Must be very safe there but I hope she has big dogs for protection and great companionship (like I do here in the U.S.A.  I wonder if you can make a video on how people moved to Mexico with their dogs?

Have a beautiful house, for 650,000 pesos, on the edge of a Mayan forest, in a Mayan town here. Houses rent here for 2,500 pesos a month (four rooms, one washroom) and a six room two washroom house for 3,500 pesos, with a large, covered balcony and patio.  I bought three houses and rent out two.  I also was a Dean in my University and write.
