The Belinda being a mother from the beginning thing is one of those things that is so simple but fixes a lot of issues

This era of Doctor Who should have been Superman 2026. The world is fucked, but there are people who fight and choose to do so via optimism and openness and kindness rather than the cynicism that has been prevalent across media in the past few decades.

Not "The Daleks have the right to defend themselves" 😭😭😭

The Doctor: "Skaro was promised to the Daleks 3,000 years ago!"

Ok, here’s an idea for the Wish World Cliffhanger. Historia is the god of stories and is starting to see that any hope of her winning is lost as soon as the Doctor comes back. So she activates the emergency security system that can attack any threat out of nowhere. And it’s called the Deus Ex Machina. Then, in the Reality War, Anita comes to help the Doctor escape it and he goes

“of course, the only way to escape a plot connivence… another one!”

the small moment you mentioned where ruby sees belinda break down over losing poppy and THAT is the closest thing she'll ever have to seeing the experience of her birth mother is so well done - I can only imagine how emotional that would be on screen

- Making Belinda a single mother from the start.

- Making Conrad and Al the same character

- Incorporating Susan from Lux, rather than Interstellar Song Contest.

- Making Anita Dobson a part of The Pantheon as Historia, The God of Stories…

Such simple adjustments that make a wooorld of difference to the overall picture, it’s honestly crazy how no one on the Bad Wolf team pushed for ideas like this, even thought about it.

This was a very satisfying watch, I would happily watch you rewrite another series (Doctor Who or otherwise).

They didn't know who would replace Patrick Trhoughton and just had the doctor spinning off into a black screen. They stole so much from the old series, should have taken that idea as well. Rose is so GD tired, can't we just let it go ffs.

14:03  I’ve maintained since it came out that the ONE big change that could fix most of all of Interstellar Song Contest is if Belinda reacts really badly to seeing the Doctor torture Kid.  Like, end this episode with her more eager than EVER to get away from him.

That one change alone would cause a domino effect that I think would raise tha story to utter brilliance.

I really wish we could've seen the Doctor, Ruby and Belinda as a TARDIS team having their adventures in a season 3 that we'll never get. They deserved that.

I cannot believe not making Belinda either a single mother/wants to be one but can't due to her job wasn't part of the plan. Like you said, connecting through the mothers in Lux and The Well would do wonders for her character. And in Reality War you could have her arc resolve by showing her husband/boyfriend take over the looking after of Poppy whilst she goes off to work as a lovely counter to all the toxic men in the series but RTD really has an issue with father figures for some reason.

8:40 THANK YOU!  Tying The Well to Midnight was such a bizarre and counterintuitive decision that really hurt The Well as a stand-alone episode.  It should’ve been a completely unrelated story with an unrelated entity.

Here’s a cliffhanger idea: establish Historia hating when people break a story’s continuity. Then, have Historia grow more furious with the characters breaking the rules of the wish world, and have her start going after them when John Smith becomes the Doctor. The cliffhanger is her about to re-write them from existence, with Anita saving them in the Reality War. Maybe add a joke in reality war of Historia saying that they were saved by “plot convenience”.

The thing I find odd about Russell's use of classic who characters in the last two seasons is that in his original run he handled bringing back old characters perfectly, he just treated it as a new show and the daleks, cybermen, master and Sarah Jane smith were characters from the doctors passed that needed to be introduced as new characters in any new show would

At this point I'm more excited for your critique of the upcoming Christmas special than the special itself

I think the regeneration happening and the Tardis doors closing and the Tardis warping off would be a nice end

26:40 Best I can think of is that they don't have any memories of their wish world selves when they turn back, so Mel just saw a glimpse of her fake life and assumed House Wife based on the aesthetic.

I always preferred the idea that the entity from the well was a separate ‘species’ within the midnight ecosystem. Don’t explain how or if they’re related. Don’t explain what role they have in the food chain. Don’t explain anything you don’t absolutely have to for the immediate plot. All this idea needs to do is make you question “if both of these things can exist here, what else is there?”

To be fair to Moffat, Boom was an idea he had way back when he was showrunner. That's why that one works. Joy To The World was fostered upon him at quite late by RTD who couldnt do it due to obligations to series 2.

Your rewrite makes sense. With Millie leaving causing a thorough line change, everyone needs a new reason to exist.
