My name is Doug. I'm the guy who called in from North carolina. What I meant to convey, but it didn't come off clearly, is that humble beginnings don't mean you failed it just means you're still in the starting gate. Knowing that Dan once had the same doubts that I was going through gave me the courage and hope to keep going
This show has been a meaningful part of my life for nearly 16 years. From listening between college classes to starting my first real job and transitioning to the podcast, it’s been a constant companion. During the time my now wife and I were dating, I’d drive three hours one way each weekend to see her, and the show was with me on every trip catching up on episodes from the week before. Many of my most significant moments and personal growth have been intertwined with this show. It’s been my comfort when I’ve needed it most.
I was lucky enough to be listening to those first couple of years in Dan's attic. Whatever they had going on behind the scenes it didn't come through on the air. The show felt professional, but like "the little engine that could" ..it felt like friends doing a show together bcuz they enjoyed it. Those early years are still my favorite time frame from this show
I’ve been a listener since the ESPN radio days!! I’m so glad you didn’t throw in the towel. This show has gotten me through some rough times and am grateful for what you guys bring everyday!!
I always LOVE when Dan says: "Thank you, Todd." because, knowing the show, I have difficulty determining(sometimes) when Dan means it as a compliment and when he means it to be condescending...
I remember it well. They were in attic, I think it was, of Dan's house. It's still the same show -- because of Dan and the Danettes. We love those guys.
Well, that certainly helped me. I left my job to start this news service with the same attitude of, "If I'm gonna go down in flames, I'm gonna do it my way." That was back in May and we're still alive. I've felt the same as Pauly at times, wondering if I'd made the worst mistake of my life. And then, something happens that makes me appreciate the opportunity we've got here. Love watching your show. Sincerely, from a fan all the way out in the middle of the Pacific called Saipan. #GoBills
This hit me deep.Crazy to realize even Dan Patrick...DAN FREAKING PATRICK struggled like we all do as humans. Glad he and the Danettes are still here and thriving . Those doubts are normal for all of us. For some reason it gives me strength to know that about Dan. Not because he struggled, but because it's just how it goes, and when we get in those moments we can dig deep, keep going, and find our way. Same goes for Doug. Hanging onto hope because of Dan. Dan hanging onto hope because of the Danettes, and his wife, and that good beer from the Pizzeria.
Thank you for everything you guys do. I love the show so much and became part of my daily shows i listen to. Helped me a bunch of times went i was feeling down. Cheers Dan and Crew
