Imagine if the structure of the show had been Tyra demonstrating how the photo shoot would go at the beginning of every shoot. And then she stuck around to coach the contestants through it and help them through their individual weaknesses. Imagine she wasn't a judge. Just a mentor. How amazing would the show have been? Instead she chose violence.

What Mr Jay is supposed to do: be the creative director. What he actually does: give snarky remarks, be exasperated and roll his eyes.

"Pretend like you're a princess" "Have you ever seen Star Wars-"
JUST TALK MOVEMENTS AND ANGLES, JAY

They make the girls look ridiculous and give weird themes to the shoots because they want to ensure that the photos can't be used in their portfolios. Because I'd they were portfolio worthy, the girls would be getting free usable shots out of the show.

Honestly this is how the show should have been, a model mentor who did an example shoot for the girls to learn from each week. Kind of a model Tim Gunn for the models

I always felt so bad for Ann.  You could see her spirit break more and more with every episode.

I know you skipped over it, but the biggest problem i had with this episode was when Yaya came out in her kimono and they chastised her for being too accurate, after spending the season criticising her afrocentricity.

Thank you for taking the time to highlight the abuse these women were put through.

On direction:
Tyra - "Put your arms to the side so the photographer can see the garment."
Jay - "Did you watch the Princess Bride? Pretend you're the rat in the swamp!"

I just wanted to point out that Amanda was legally blind and they still expected so much. And told her to “fight through it” during episodes

You know what I JUST realized even after so many times watching this season? When Tyra is doing her demo shoot, SHE’S NOT HOLDING A FECKING PHONE. But all the girls have to hold a stupid phone in their hand for their shoots, which limits what they can reasonably do in regards to posing and using the fabric of the kimono the way Tyra was doing. Wtf.

To make matters worse the "kimono" they're using for this underwear shoot is called a UCHIKAKE
Uchikake is a highly formal kimono worn only by a bride or at a stage performance.

This photoshoot makes ZERO sense!!! Lingerie has nothing to with kimonos which have nothing to do with the fantasy sci-fi head pieces that have even less to do with a flip phone!!!
😂😂😂
Do you think Jay gives bad directions to draw attention away from the horrible designs he comes up with?

Tyra had her hands free to swing the kimono around. The models didn’t.

They did that formula hard with Tocarra, she came in with all the personality and then they picked at her and then asked why she lost her personality.

I feel like they absolutely crushed her spirits. She deserved so much better.

It always irritated me that the producers would pick their "best" photo for judging. It would make more sense if the models could pick their own to be judged

Take a drink every time Jay says "T-mobile" for the sponsorship
edit: also, these men are mad a girl doesn't get a star wars reference and yet they don't know the word "anime"?

Tyra annoys the hell out of me but I love that you’re so positive and give her props for her fantastic modeling, because she really is a genius with the poses ❤

Tyra is an absolute expert in her field , a pro level teacher, excellent communicator and master in setting up the models for failure. 😣

Tyra's photoshoot at the beginning was a great little lesson in posing for the other models except for the part where she never had to hold the flip phone! Just another example of Tyra doing the "same" photoshoot as the models but without any of the challenging or painful or annoying elements that the models couldn't say no to.
