the reason why they taste like dirt is because usually in the U.S., they tend to sit in mud in calm bodies of water, so yeah. and also, they are water cleaners, like plecos and catfish. their relatives are the goldfish and the koi. if you want to catch a carp that tastes good, first find one in a fast river. those keep the carp from sitting in the mud. then, season it with Asian seasonings and grill it it tastes absolutely amazang

one word, corn brother.

I grew up eating carp and various other "trash fish". It's not my favorite fish, but if done correctly it's perfectly fine. I wouldn't eat anything from water that smelled like sewage though 😂

My wife's grandfather  gave me a good recipe for carp.
1. Build a camp fire with a rock ring around it.
2. Get a plank of cedar
3. Place the carp filet on the cedar.
4. Wait until fish meat begins to flake.
5. Throw the fish in the fire.
6. Eat the cedar plank.

Carp is very tasty in late autumn, when the aquatic plants have died back and the water has become clear. At that time, the carp’s flesh is clean and well-fed after the summer season. As many say, it should be eaten at christmas. Yours was bony because it was underfed.

I was on a mission to catch a carp and try it. Once I did, I tried one of the fillets grilled without any special prep beforehand, and it tasted kind of bad. However, I did more with the other fillet, soaking it in milk overnight, scoring the meat, covering it in flour, and cooking it in oil, seasoning it with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. It tasted much better that way.

Carp takes more preparation to taste good, unlike something like a trout which is fine just tossed right on the grill right after it's caught.

A couple cans of old corn and a hook with some corn you’d easily catch a carp, chum a lil corn then throw your hook near it with corn

in Asia we technically eat carp everyday. but we don't have the smelly problem, it's definitely an environment problem

As usual, 'Old Bay' saves the day!

This was hard to watch but you stayed strong persistent and it payed off. Good video

When I was a kid we used to catch huge carp in Lake Erie. We never ate them but there were always folks around who'd be happy to take them home. Catfish can taste pretty damn nasty too if you don't prepare it correctly.

Its not the fish thats problem its probably mud waters u get them from. I grew up in south/east Europe and i grew from eating that fish and never once it had bad smell or taste, i cut it in half open it up (never take skin of) throw on some salt, throw it on bbq finish it of with bit of lemon juice. Also bones are not huge problem when fish is bigger and you get used to it.

Carp was my grandmother’s favourite fish. My parents didn’t really liked it so we always gave her all the carps we caught lol.  She would cook it on an open fire with only salt and pepper or by smoking it. She was half Cree and half Inuit.

I love carp. I season it with mashed up turmeric, shallots, garlic, lemongrass, galangal, salt and pepper. Marinade for 30 minutes then fry until crispy. Oh i don't filet it btw. The whole fish goes in the fryer. Eat it with extra hot sambal, sweet soy sauce and puffing hot rice. Yum yum.. 😊

I catch them here in New Jersey in the Passaic River. Asians go crazy for them around here. I never ate it. Hasidim in the area eat carp. It’s called Gefilte Fish.

I feel honored wearing your glasses

My dad caught the carp, brought them home in a live well, then put them in our small patio pond with clean, filtered water for a few weeks. He fed them cat chow..
They tasted wonderful. He also did that with Snapping Turtles.

Team early 😈

for carps just use corn as bait, its quite easy to catch them that way

Mullet is a "trash fish" but its delicious down south, specifically Pensacola, Florida.
