"I'm a human being. I exist! And if I speak ONE thought aloud, that thought LIVES, even after I'm shoveled into my grave!"
Brilliant.

This guy can't catch a break. Survives a nuclear holocaust, breaks his glasses, ends up in a dictatorship, and then gets executed for reading so much.

"Logic is an enemy and truth is a menace."

That line alone hits hard in today's world.

The Chancellor wasn’t even really speaking to Mr.Wordsworth, he was grandstanding to the crowd

This story line makes more sense in 2020 than it did in 1961

“Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the work, dignity, the rights of man, that state is obsolete.”

It has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.

Rod Serling pretty much predicted the future with this one.

In 2025 I am 75 years old so I remember seeing this episode when it first ran.  Now we're living this dystopia that Rod Serling saw coming. Chilling.

Rod Serling, and The Twilight Zone, will NEVER be obsolete.

The guy on the high stand is literally resting his hand on a book saying, “there are no books”. Excellent example of some in power.

“There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.”
― Joseph Brodsky

Rod was out here saving lives with his "stories" as they are quite prophetic in hindsight.

In any totalitarian regime . . .  "One iron rule, logic is an enemy and truth is a menace . . . "  truer words have rarely been spoken.

This episode has haunted me since I first saw it, when it first aired. And now I feel like I'm seeing it come true right before my eyes.

Don't eliminate him. He trains Rocky to win the title!!!

This show was so ahead of its time.

Where one burns books, one will soon burn people." — Heinrich Heine

This is a timeless lesson that will never become obsolete.

This was meant as a warning, not an instruction manual

This show was over 60 years ahead of its time. Look at the news headlines.
