The only downsides I just really miss on the S5 compated to other lumix cameras, is the synchro scan and the lack of any option to film in 48 fps, not even in the S&Q mode.

Overheating has been fixed in the new update.

Thank you so much for your review. I'd really love to see the S5 in ProResRaw now that it's compatible with DaVinci, with Atomos. I think we'd be looking at a different camera since it doesn't do the debayer internally. When you have the chance, that would be great.

You can get the camera now new for 799 euro with a kit lens. That is a bargain.

Well the Panasonic LUMIX S9 is hardly a little more than the S5, not double or triple the price, and it’s light and less easy to Frankenstein, it can overheat but it’s not easy, and has awesome video features.
So I think the perfect camera to upgrade to is the S9

I have bought one for 799 with lens... Idea was some wedding shooting for friends and some portraits... Autofocus is definetely not trustable, too many shots out of focus due to poor DFD, in particular in low light or artificial light. It is a big shame, cause price was very convenient for the camera and has other amazing qualities, body is very handly, colours are beautiful... Have to send back or sell it... Spoiler: no filmmaker here, obvviously

Now in 2026 i can buy it for 500€. Totally nuts and people dont even know how good it is. Specially with prores RAW with ninja v. There still isnt better IQ with RAW from any mirrorless cameras, not sony and not canon. Color and highlight roll off and dynamic range is so close to smaller RED cameras. I dont see why i would upgrade it. Alexa is clear step up and bigger sensor REDs.

I think the ZR + DJI 4mini + 40F2 or 28 2.8mm is the best deal! But for you, my friend, I think the s1RII is the best choice. It has decent autofocus, stabilization that's usable even while walking, a DJI Phantom sensor with the best noise performance, and most importantly, low ISO in log, which allows you to use 3-7 stop filters and the zoom ability to zoom in on video from 45 MP. So, your 24-105F4 zoom can be turned into a 48-210F8, and if necessary, a 72-315F12. The s1HII is expected after the new year; there won't be any cinema cameras! No one can beat the ZR's price.
