In this video, we're taking a look back at Turner Round The World, exploring what the show was supposed to be, how it worked, where it went wrong and why it ultimately failed to capture the imagination of viewers.

A bit of an obscure one thing and one that I think a lot of people won't remember! We cover both the good and bad on this channel, and this is certainly one of the worse game shows! Still an interesting nostalgic look back at the greatest decade (in my opinion), the 90s! Do you remember this show? How could it have been improved?

Presumably Paul from London was the first caller who'd had enough time to rewind the videotape to get the correct answer!

Sounds like something Alan Partridge would record as a voice memo

I always felt that Turner's presenting style was as if the entire audience was 6 years old.

This genuinely feels like a celebrity travel show that they decided to change at the last minute.

Oh, I guess we can turn this into a quiz. Why not

The 3-second Bee Gee interludes were a nice touch, lol

Normally when you say you could only find two episodes of a show there is a little disappointment, but this time I could tell you were delighted. Also showing 2 seconds of The Bee Gees was brilliant

It's antheas dead eyes and grasping hands that killed it for me

The whole thing sounds like an excuse for Anthea Tuner and the rest of the production team to get six free holidays.

4:58 Dolphins do have an IQ of 40...which is likely higher than whoever thought this show was a good idea 😅😅

I am a telly addict, aged 46, and I have a great memory. I have no recollection of this show whatsoever.

That moment when you watch the video and the thing you keep noticing is the "HTV 888" banner and know exactly what it refers to! Would it have been considered a loss or a relief that the deaf and hard of hearing didn't get to watch along? Or if that banner was more entertaining than the programme!

There was that one Richard Madeley did called "Runway" in the 90s, I preferred that a lot more to this 😂

04:16 - Would that be the David Arnold of James Bond, Stargate, and Independence Day fame?! Just goes to show even the worst programmes have some hidden qualities.

It's kind of funny that we don't have to imagine what The Crystal Maze, Bullseye and Robot Wars would be like without their iconic hosts - we can just watch them!

Crystal Maze had Ed Pole Tudor and later Stephen Merchant and Richard Ayoade; Bullseye eventually got rebooted with Dave Spikey, and Robot Wars originally had Jeremy Clarkson with Dara O'Brien taking over for the reboot.

'Turner round the world' is just the sort of idea for a TV show that Alan Partridge would have pitched to a television commissioner. Maybe as 'Partridge Planet' where he goes around the world but only by visiting countries with a P in their names.

I think someone thought up the title and someone else commissioned it on that and then had to come up with the program

Anyone remember a shortlived gameshow on UK Channel 4 called XFire (Crossfire)

It was a paintball based game where a strike team of players had to complete various missions with overarching themes.

If they, or an enemy, were hit, they "Emulsified". And if the whole team was Emulsified, it was a loss.

It was early 2000's so perhaps a future Back in the Day video?
